The exact reason he was bought in jan was to be a ready made replacement for our 1st team CBs.. hope he improves fast.

How much of Drag did you see at Genoa to come to the conclusion he’s mediocre? Especially since he’s still so young.

I’m not having a go, just surprised anyone could have such a firm opinion about him since he’s hardly played.
The last couple of his games at Genoa when we got seriously linked with him, plus reading some scouting reports and his data.
It's really enough to know that his passing is limited and Genoa was playing different style than us. Which makes him bad backup for Romero because he is much worse on the ball while Romero is also more agressive as a defender and bad backup for Van de Ven because he doesn't have his pace and isn't left footed

I think he's done very well when he's come on towards the end of games to shore things up. I think the pace of the league probably caught him a bit by surprise against Fulham.

He looks like a class defender to me. Just needs time to settle and get a few more minutes under his belt, which he will do especially next season.

I think Radu's contribution in the Fulham game highlighted the need for rotation when we are comfortable in games. Non starting players(especially new transfers) need time on the match day pitch to acclimatise and get up to speed. All the training in the world won't replace actual match time.

I do agree and he will surely get that opportunity with more matches to play next season.

I’m amazed by some of the shit I’ve seen posted here. My goodness. For me, the signs are encouraging on Dragusin. He didn’t play great on Saturday but every single one of the starting eleven were miles off it so I wouldn’t draw any conclusions yet. Judging a player after effectively one and a half games is a new low. Fuck me.

He's been here for 3 months. Compare it to 1st start from Van de Ven who probably had like 3 training sessions at all before debut
Players develop differently. Van de Ven came in and ripped it up immediately. Gareth Bale took years to look like a player.

Ledley King looked a natural from the start. Harry Kane looked like he’d barely make a Championship player. They’re people, not robots.

He’s a very young man, in a very different environment and played in a team who, to a man, turned in a stinker of a performance. Give him a proper chance.

Some of the posts since the Fulham defeat have been laughable. I get that people are unhappy with a really poor result but we don’t need to draw from that generalisations like Ange’s football is not sustainable, or Dragusin is mediocre. I think the frustration has gotten the better of people.
Honestly I wouldn't pay too much attention to comments during and shortly after a loss. People react in anger and need to settle down a good day or two later to form reasonable opinions. I think when you go past the criticisms of him there are not many made the last couple of days and most comments have been reasonable and supportive. You might get 2 in 20 neg comments and people will reply about the 2 neg ones and make it seem like everyone is saying it.

Flicked through this thread. Bermused at the Dragu concerns at the first full sight of him. I question whether some are even being serious.

There were numerous poor performances by those used to the set up; arrowing on him is absurd. I saw plenty of attributes there. The new management structure I’m sure know exactly what they are getting.

My only issue was his reluctance to pass the ball out wide to switch play. He tended to always pass the ball back across to romero

I can’t wait for a spurs game where we are comfortable.

I'm 32 don't lumber me in with them! :cautious:
Only until you're 35.

Patience and grind are exactly what Radu needs and exactly what he'll get from Ange. I can't wait for the Spurs media to put out a video of Ange reading Spurs Community.

It was a strange game… I wouldn’t say it was always a reluctance to do this and for some stupid reason both Porro and Udogie weren’t overlapping and Johnson and Kulu kept dropping deep instead of making runs. The whole performance was a shambles. It also didn’t help Radu that he wasn’t playing on his natural side. Not that they’re similar in terms of quality but do you remember when Dier or Sanchez had to play LCB - they were both an accident waiting to happen.

Still build up issues with him playing on the left but I thought he did well yesterday, I was particularly impressed with his 3/4 surging runs with the ball out of defence.

That's what impressed me most, I didn't know he was strong at carrying the ball forward. Considering he's on his weaker side he did really well. Bissouma did well to drop in when he got forward as well. Not only does he carry it but then overlaps his run after releasing it and adds another number in attack. He shows good composure on the ball just finds it difficult on the left.

Luton were isolating him with their press. They were waiting for the ball to go to him and would press him from our left, cutting out the passing lane. They did the same thing to us that we did to Fulham earlier this season when we pressed Bassey playing as a RCB (Left footed).
From there, there are only two passes to make (Romero and Vicario). When they continue the press they force the ball down out right.

I think he will take so e time getting used to the system and the speed of the league but he will improve. I think in the short term I'd play him on the right until VDV is back but eventually I think he'll be ok as you could see him trying to play it from his left

We’ve been fortunate with VDV looking so stellar so quickly into his career here (and in English football, although his first few games had their moments) but I think Radi is doing quite well in a position which Ange’s system can expose.

I hope his solidity improve, much like Romero’s has, and he looked better on/with the ball. Loving the darts forward
