He did alright when he came on. He just looks so limited, technically and physically.

He and Pierre just don't have the ability to turn away from trouble or play on the half turn and as a result are too slow using the ball and because of the inability to receive it under pressure often have to rush a pass or go backwards

I pray we don't have to see them on the pitch together for any length of time

What part did he play in us winning?

Other than a VAR call saving him from costing us a goal?
He slept with your wife, didn’t he? 😂

We win and lose as a team, but you’ve decided he’s shit and me arguing otherwise isn’t going to change your mind. Enjoy your evening.

I thought he was strong defensively 2nd half and put in some immense tackles without fouling to break up their play when we were down a man.

He will never be good enough for our first 11. I do believe he could be a great squad player for us coming off the bench in certain situations with an additional positive of him being HG and a professional. Itthen comes down to if Skipp would be happy with that type of role or if he would want to push on to advance his career somewhere else.

I honestly don't think many premiership clubs are clamouring for him.

Or any in fact.

Being very honest, which premiership team would he improve?
Quite a few in my opinion but you seem quite set in yours, so this then becomes all a bit pointless (bordering on childish) really.

Went into this thread thinking he would get a bit of credit tonight.

He has the same position in the squad as someone like Elneny at Arsenal and the reason he's given minutes is because we've had a ridiculous number of players out in centre midfield. He doesn't get subbed on tonight unless Maddison, Bentancur, Lo Celso or any other senior forward player is on the bench except for Gil (Perisic, Solomon, Johnson out).

He is an excellent trainer (according to Ange) and Spurs through and through. If you think we can sign a £40-£50m player for his squad position you are not based in reality. That's Chelsea's approach, and looked where that has taken them.

Forest Gump ran for days,
To be fair, I've seen a lot of people clamouring for Connor Gallagher and from what I can tell, his main strength seems to be his engine. He doesn't really stand out as much more than a player who runs about a lot.

It's all onions really.

Not sure how you say he will never be a starter in our first team- he’s still really young and has a lot of scope and time to improve.

fwiw I thought he did well today

He’s 23, a few months younger than Deki. For what it’s worth, I thought his performance tonight had two halves - he looked completely lost before the red card, did much better once he was deeper after it. But he’s not good enough technically for Ange’s style

Came here to give a few plaudits for Skipp's recent efforts. Bit surprised to see so many bagging him here to be honest.

Come on now, you can’t actually have just compared Skipp to Gallagher?

Skipp is alright he just doesn’t fit our system. I personally think it would be better for all parties if he moved on soon. He needs game time and won’t get it here unfortunately.

I can see why Ange brings him on - you can see that he understands the tactical responsibility of the roles in the team, but he just does not have the technical skillset to play as a midfielder who has to be effective progressing from middle to final third. He is t able to play in tight spaces when a 360 view is needed.

When the game got stretched and the demands was effort, covering ground, and then breaking and playing into open spaces Skipp was much better and it suited his skillset.

I still think he should be the backup for Biss, be interesting if that happens now but I fear it won’t. More playing time as an 8 will be detrimental I fear.

If I recall correctly, this is Skippy’s FIRST match this season with this amount of mins & he did well, well enough that is

how do you expect someone who hasn’t played consistently in the fast paced epl to just suddenly come in and perform at the top level? Who can? It’s like thinking Veliz’s or Donley’s few seconds here and there and once they are given 60-75 mins, suddenly they will be world beaters

with Yves out, I’d rather let Skipp start with Sarr n Deki and then judge him after a couple of 60-70 mins games

I haven't decided he's shit at all.

I just don't think he's of the required level for us right now.

I always want our young players to come in and do well and under the balls-up that was Conte's tenure he was one of the bright lights for me.

But he's had a lot of time at the club now and for me isn't improving.

He's technically pretty average and physically doesn't impose himself.

I don't think he's cut out for the premiership and whilst I'd love him to prove me wrong, I don't think he'll do that at Spurs.

Good work. He just doesn't have the athleticism of Sarr in there. He'll put a shift in but I do wonder if he should cover as a 6 rather than an 8. Whenever he gets forward he lacks any conviction or just doesn't have the pace to drive on. He looks more composed than Hojbjerg.
He's definitely more suited to the sitting role.

I think he'd make a good DM for some teams.

But going forwards he's very limited.

When he came on he was half a yard off everything, winning the ball receiving the ball, releasing the ball quick enough.
He needs game time second half once he had got into the game looked a lot sharper. that’s always going to happen when you don’t play enough. He’s not good enough long term but that’s not his fault. Winks was always the better prospect but he got torn to shreds on here because he was playing as something he isn’t in a confidence killing system. Winks would have been a very useful player in this system. Skipp and hojbjerg need to play in a side like forest where it’s more about breaking up play than dictating it.

That's what I've been saying in here.
He's a very tidy little DM but in our set up, we need a bit more than that, unfortunately for him.

He may get better over the next month with more playing time though.
Even back in his Norwich loan, Farke (was it?) was trying to get him more confident in his attacking play and it was beginning to show.
His odd injury/illness really set him back because at one stage, he was improving game by game and was one of our better players when he had a run in the team.

I'm not as confident in him as I once was but I've not quite given up hope yet.

The same was said of winks, he’s moved to the championship and is finally excelling - because although he could do a job for a premier league team, he’ll stand out in a good championship one.

Imo winks is a better player than Skipp, I’m not sure what Skipp is good at in all honesty.

He doesn't fit the game plan. He could do well at a top champ/low prem club playing a different style.
