Nathan Oduwa is on loan at Rangers and has been getting some very good reviews. It's nice to see our own youth performing like this. He seemed to get a fair few minutes for us in preseason before he went on loan. Looks promising and the video below is a good watch!

Nathan Oduwa has cut short is season-long loan spell at Rangers and returned to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 19-year-old midfielder confirmed in a post on social media he was ending his time at Ibrox.

"I'd like to thank everyone associated with Rangers for making me feel at home both on & off the field," Oduwa posted.

"I want to wish the players good luck for the rest of the season and hope they get Rangers back to the Scottish Premiership."

Oduwa made 19 appearances for the Scottish Championship side - the last coming away against Falkirk on 19 December.

Wonder who cut this short? Us or them? Seen some of the highlights from his time there but don't know the overall picture

I'd say it was us given he hasn't appeared for a month, and played just 320 minutes in the months prior. He'd get more continuity at a Championship club as a rotation player, but I suspect there'll be a team or two that will bring him in to start.

He's our back up to Kane as we struggle to get a striker in. :cautious:

Maybe he just didn't suit the league. The fact he played so little does suggest he maybe wasn't setting the world alight there.

No bother, i'm sure there will be other opportunities. Doesn't mean he's a failure. If that was the case with failed loanees then we'd have binned off Kane years ago.

Seeing how frenzied people on SC are about getting "plenty" of new strikers this window....how many are genuinly ready to wait for Oduwa?
Spurs got Chadli, Son, Njie, Kane, Lamela (and still Townsend) and yet many on SC want Spurs to sign 1-2 more strikers...after Njie and Son have just spent half-a-season at Spurs/EPL.

But only one of those is a striker :S

Oduwa has failed at Rangers. He will struggle hereon with us.

Failed ? I dont think you saw the treatment he got. You must have missed the absolute kicking he got against some teams who were going out with the intent to kick him. The forearm smash and the career threatening leg break tackles at Livingston ? He was taken off in a good few games for his own protection, even Warburton said in an interview he couldnt believe what was happening to him. He hardly played again for Rangers due to the treatment he got.

Failed my arse.

Wasn't he doing really well up until a game where he was badly roughed up? I think he liked the occasional 'showboat' and one particular opposition decided to kick the crap out of him! Maybe that put him off a bit? Hopefully he's a bit tougher than that - he'll need to be if we loan him to a championship team or lower league.

Also Burchill (Livingston manager or ex manager now not sure) said something along the lines he's from England and defended the treatment against NAthan as the players doing the tackles were one of their own. Even the ref's let most of it go.

IF this is the reason he's come back to us then he'll struggle to make it as a pro.
People will know he doesn't like being roughed up and do it all the more. I hope it's for a different reason I think we'll know one day.

To be fair, he didnt really play either last season in league 2. So its certainly within the realm of possibilities that its both the showbeating thing and him just not doing well.
