Weird that it's a hammy, because the TV commentators said he had a niggle before HT, and was sent out for the 2nd half to see if he could run it off, which he couldn't.

That's weird because you don't run off a muscle tear. You run off an impact injury, cramp, or a twist, but not a muscle tear or strain. And there's no way the Spurs meds can't tell the difference. Presumably the commentators were just wrong, assuming the ITK above is correct.

Ed: Also just seen on another thread someone else say Radu was warming up at HT, which kind of backs up the commentator's version of events. I do find this very strange if it's a hamstring.

I think the assumption was based on multiple sources saying Dragusin warmed up heavily at half time which does indeed suggests he felt something already in the first half.

Probably should have been subbed at half time using your logic above.

Worrying if it’s a hammie again
It is, not because of how long he's going to be out for but more for the fact he seems to be suspect to hamstring injuries. Hopefully this is just bad luck as he hasn't been out due to a hamstring injury in his career prior to joining us.

Back on the subject of protecting our defence. We definitely need to be better at fouling in the opponents half.

There was a break for Villa in the first half that Maddison could've halted but instead avoided the contact leaving us with a 2v2.

There were however a good few times yesterday where it looked like either Porro or Udogie were falling back in to make a back three during early buildup as insurance if there was a turnover.

His previous hamstring injury at Wolfsburg wasn't last season but the season before, so 3 years not 2. With that injury he was also out for ~3 months so it's something he has had and will probably continue to have.

Always a risk with players this quick and with a strong engine. The mind is always willing but the body still has limits.

I'll say it RN, he could miss a dozen games every season and I wouldn't care as long as we have good cover. When he's fit he is sublime.

you are right, I'm an idiot, I literally looked at his injury history before I posted that and somehow missed it. That's a third hamstring injury in 2 years then.

It is rooted in the myth of Achilles that when his mother dipped him in the River Styx, his entire body was made invulnerable except for the part of his foot hamstring where she held him.

If anything, it will make Mr Manea happy for a while.

If Micky is fit after the international break I'd personally save him until the away game to West Ham and play Radu in the first game after the break, which is home to Luton.

With Radu we've got 3 great options. Maybe Phillips will have done enough to earn the trust of being our 4th CB next season. Or maybe we can go after the lad from Bournemouth again if not. Plus the season after that we'll have Vuskovic joining too.

GD, this time last year things looked truly bleak at the back.

Got Alfie Dorrington too.
