Can only hope he can be ahead of time line like how Bentancur did, especially with his age he can recover faster 🙏🏻

The body of Matt Laws article screams guesswork .

Tottenham fear Micky van de Ven is set for a lengthy spell out injured, despite hoping he will not require surgery.

Estimates suggest Van de Ven could be out until January at the earliest, although Tottenham are yet to put a firm timescale on his return and delayed an initial scan.

We’ll need to see what Ange says in his pre Wolves presser.

I could live with that if it's true. We have an international break in between to factor in, so if he's back Jan/Feb i don't think that's too bad.

We have over 25% of our league season to play before the 1st January.

Just under 10% of our league season also without Romero.

So yes it's still very very bad.

Fully being Ange but the club not signing another CB before the deadline was madness.

To then let Sanchez go AFTER the deadline without being able to replace was a massive gamble and it's blown up in our faces.

I defer to your sound knowledge but I've heard someone's hamstring snap whilst playing football myself and it was scarily loud. I couldn't believe how loud, actually.
My achilles snapped whilst playing Badminton, I thought a string in the racket had gone. That was quite loud on the loud injury scale!

Before we say it has blown up in our faces, let's see how we play the rest of the year. I would have liked to get another CB in during the summer, but to think we were going to get someone of equal quality to just plug and play without the promise of being in the starting 11 is madness. The thing we have to address at some point is whether Romero's upside his worth the periods we miss him because he is not being able to control his passion.

So, as expected, until official medical results are in nobody knows? Colour me shocked. People were saying City away yesterday, now United away today.

Bit unfair on the med team this. Usually they advise by giving out all the information they have available regards prognosis and timeframes etc and it's always the player who makes that final decision. You'd be amazed how many of them will avoid surgery with very small odds of recovering without, in order to play on in the short term. Richalisson is a prime example.
Didn't Richy go so far to deny that he was injured and that surgery would be required at some point?

Technically we did sign another centre back. He's just 18 years old and we have no idea how well he can do or if he's ready. I guess the only way to know is to try him. I remember when we were without Romero for the end of the 21/22 season and we were concerned. In the end we finished the season strong, kept some clean sheets and got 4th place. I'm not a big fan of Dier but he's not the worst player to have alongside Romero. In the meantime I hope Phillips gets a few games even if we just tell whether he's ready or not.

It's just a shame that his first games will be without Romero by his side instead of Dier.

It’s concerning this is a recurring injury, he done this last year and spent 2 months out for Wolfsburg.

Recurring hamstring injuries are worrying, especially for a pacy player like VDV

It was a gamble, but I'm still fine with it for the following reasons.

  • They wanted to build a CB pairing with lots of gametime = achieved
  • They'd have looked at the likelihood of both 1st choice CBs being unavailable and concluded it was a risk worth taking (until Jan) - given we have Dier and Williams who can both play CB if needed. & in a pinch PEH and Davies can be rotated there too as temp cover.
  • Dipping into the CB market in Jan was always going to happen, and I think this has shown it needs to happen.
  • Sanchez really did need to go, as he would have got the same gametime as Dier up until now.. none. & we got a fee for him, and we needed to clear the decks further for non-homegrown.
  • Dier isn't ideal, but capable as an understudy for a period.. and gives him minutes, get him in the shop window for a potential sale, if contract isn't run down.

We don’t hear from Matt Law for months while we are doing well and it’s all good news. The minute there is some bad news here he is. What a surprise!
