Neto looked to have an equally bad hamstring tear/pull and he had to be stretchered off and I'm sure they gave him oxygen for a bit as well. Gary O'Neil has suggested he might be available after the international break . I'd hazard a guess that Micky is made of sterner stuff so it's hard to gauge, but it's a little crumb of hope.

It's disappointing, however it does give Dorrington and Phillips the chance to step up.

Let's hope one does

And the transformation is clearly manager based. VDV has been brilliant but that doesn’t mean that someone else can’t come through and do the same.

Manage him how? He just tore it after a 10 day rest
I'm talking about in the future when we do have midweek games and will need to rotate.

I accept yesterday was more unfortunate circumstance and not attributing blame.

I think we are doomed. Have no confidence on getting top 6 now.
i dont think its that catastrophic, we can still get top 5, if we beat wolves and then lose to villa and city (which could likely happen anyway) we wont be miles away then romero is back at least. VDV is a huge loss but its one player, we should be able to cope with that but its classic Levy leaving us short when Kelly was available.

Yeah, it didn't look like a pull. Looked a lot more severe than that. Let's just hope he has a low pain threshold and that the injury isn't as bad as it looked. But I think we're clutching here. I can't see him playing again until well into 2024.

Yeah I think it'll be a minor miracle if it is a grade 2 or less. Reminded me of the Alderweireld one against Real Madrid. That was the best part of 3 months. Going to need someone like Emerson, Dier, Davies, Phillips or Dorrington to step up for Ange like Sanchez did for Poch in that spell.

Even the Kane one where he tore it off the bone was innocuous compared to Mickey's. Feel like we are just waiting for the inevitable and it'll be months.

Recruitment team will need to have a new CB lined up for January 1st.

Back on Saturday then? :woot:

I'm really worried about it. He was holding his hammy high at the top which could suggest it's where it attaches to the bone, like what happened with Kane. That required surgery and a relatively long lay off.

However I'm also worried it will affect his pace, which is a big attribute.

Fingers crossed it looks worse than it actually is.

Yeh who knows. I did a light rip on my calf in my younger days, I couldnt walk or even put my foot down for about 2 hours, as in not even the extreme pain but my leg itself wouldn’t move and couldn’t support my weight as I couldn’t flatten my foot. Was running a few weeks later. Truth is it could be 6 months or 3 weeks, we won’t know till the doctor confirms.

If it’s a grade 3 tear to his tendon, that is the worst case scenario.

I don’t remember Kane having hamstring injuries or needing any operations.
All his injuries have been strained ankle ligaments.

Kane did his hamstring during the Xmas games ( think it was away to Southampton). I’m pretty sure he ended up having surgery.

It was. New Year’s Day 2020, his hamstring detached from the bone.
Difficult to say how long he was out for as his recovery was Covid affected.

VdV looked in a lot of pain and the injury was very high up the leg which is generally worse for hamstrings.
Could easily be next year before we see him.
I said all along it was vital we kept him fit. He is so important with his pace and positional play allowing Udogie to push up. I just hope we don’t really rue not signing Kelly.

We’ll have to wait for the scan but apparently he did similar playing for Wolfsburg and missed a series of games. No idea if it is the same leg though.

Yep, just looked it up. In 2022 he was out for 76 days missing 12 games. I'd take that at this point. That's 2 1/2 months.

Horrendous bad lack but I'm excited to see what Phillips and dorrington can do now
It may be a lot to ask of them. Obviously Ange sees them in training so will have an idea if they’re ready but asking them to play every week for a couple of months has its dangers. You need to protect their confidence; I know Ange is great at that with all the players but it’s particularly important with kids.

Not gonna worry about and speculate over worst case scenarios until we know more to be honest.

Remembering Dier's expeditionary tackle on Ramos, hopefully with his experience he can play the aggressor of the two centre backs as Romero has been, and one of Phillips and Dorrington has the pace to play the recovery role which VDV has been - a simpler, more reactive job for their lesser experience.

Maybe we can still field a backline which isn't fatally flawed.

That's good news for Wolves. Lovely player and Gary O'Neil always comes across well.

Here's hoping for another miracle and similar outcome for our Micky.
