Honestly him and Udogie could be the best LCB and LB’s and the league in a few years. I honestly struggle to comprehend how we’ve gone from an aging team that looked to be falling way off the pace of the other “big 6” to suddenly a team of talented young players already looking like they can compete with anyone over the course of 6 months. Our back 4 had an average age of less than 23 today, considering they’ve all got 4/5/6 years left on their contracts this should be our back 4 for half a decade at least.

He just gives me so much calmness at the back. So focus like Dawson, elegant like Verts, and quick, like no one but him, Mickey Van der Ven 👏

Always got me wondering what would have happened if we go all out to sign Tapsoba instead and then missed out on him. Sometimes we can really be grateful for the good luck shining on this club, not all things are cursed.

Today convinced me that, Van De Ven is our best CB...he may not have the same level of experience as Romero. But to me, Van de Ven is more important to our backline than Romero. His calmness under any situation is just impeccable.

The very best players always seem to have a little bit more time to do what they need and he has that in spades.

Calmest bloke in the whole stadium today it looked like!

Credit to our manager for trusting him straight away and starting him that first game. I think he had less than a week of training and started vs Brentford and it’s only been upward from there.

Been brilliant. Just so refreshing having a CB pairing who are mobile and comfortable receiving the ball. Both VDV and Romero can sort out their feet quickly, thread balls through to the midfield and drive forward with the ball when the opportunity is there.. Hopefully we can add another one in that mould in January.

Just glad we have finally moved on from CB's who either have the turning circle of an oil tanker and/or can't take care of the ball.

Alternative vid with some chill out music to match his style

Van De Ven's last action in this highlights (at 2min mark) is a product of Ange system and coaching.
Moment he makes a back pass to Vicario, he quickly makes a run beside Vicario so to form a triangle with Bissouma giving a clean passing option.

I told you all he’s better than Tapsoba from the start. He looks like he’s going to be the leader at the back, he’s so damn calm it is quite amazing for a player so young!
