He's done superbly to get back to fitness.

I think he'll surprise a few once he gets settled.

I thought he did well in his early season appearances - but I think with the Nusa links, and even considering the possibility of Nusa coming in January -that Solomon is not seen as the long-term solution at LW.

It might be that two knee injuries in two years, is too much.

Agreed there were flashes of what he’s capable of. Definitely needs more time to be judged properly.

One contention- he does this thing where he receives the ball in a closed off position facing back to goal, really limits his ability to play forward, so he ends up being ushered backwards. Compare that to Udogie or Werner, who will open their bodies across the ball, and have options forward and backward. Under presssure, Solomon limits himself. That can be worked on so I’m not writing him off.

when he has space to turn and get at a man, or carry forward into space, he’s looked pretty decent.

Think some of this is evolution of the team. When he would have featured, the team was still working on timing of movement between the full backs and midfielders. Early on our wingers would drop a lot deeper to receive the ball in build up.

These days we do a better job progressing which means we draw more attention in midfield higher up the pitch and leave our wingers wider and ready to run in behind or receive the ball ready to go 1v1

I think that’s partly it, but it’s definitely something Solomon can improve on. It’s about body position and movement before receiving the ball. Again, definitely something that can be worked on.

Also wonders if it ties into Gil potential deal at all..
Yeah it will be interesting what happens with Gil. Seemed like we wanted Nusa and then would okay Gil going. It sounds like Solomon might be out a while longer and then it will likely take him a bit to get up to speed.

Damn, that's a really big shame. He's been one of the players I've been mostly looking forward to seeing again. Johnson and Solomon as options for fresh legs off the bench would be really great.

Didn't he say full training next week? If so it's a 1-2 weeks setback, that's not a huge deal
The lad has had two knee surgeries in two years. I would say any setback is a pretty big deal.

ETA - And the ominous part, for me, was "he is getting assessed again"

The forgotten man. Thought he looked OK in his cameos
I thought he looked good but was lacking an understanding with the other players on the field. Hopefully his time with the squad (albeit injured) has helped on that end. I can see him starting over Johnson.

Must say im starting to get concerned about his injuries. Last season he missed 17 games for Fulham, after tomorrow it will be the same for us. Looking at the bellow record isn't pretty.
