Just was about to post the same thing....

Is it just me knowing we're linked to Solomon then the club is, "The Club will make a financial contribution and an additional donation of net proceeds from ticket sales to ‘Shakhtar Social" or am I reading too far into this?

They publicly threatened to sue us if we tried to sign him and then 2 weeks later we announce a friendly with the proceeds going to them and a donation as well. Sounds like we are paying a small 'transfer fee'. At least levy is trying to build relations with clubs. Maybe the penny has finally dropped

The friendly has to be tied to this one. A good versatile striker option and we are really cooking this window if this one gets done. Just need these centre backs and I'll be enthusiastic about the season ahead.

Yeah I’d be very surprised if we didn’t sign Solomon now.

Very good player and would suit ‘Ange's style of football’ well imo.

Will say I would’ve been very excited to have seen how Jota would’ve done though to be honest.

Whilst it certainly suggests we want to keep relations sweet there haven't been any links to him in a while so its hard to say. Now this has been announced tho one would assume if there is anything in it then it will happen quickly.

I think the last we heard was about a week ago where it was mentioned he'd decide on his future in about a week after he returned from holiday, the timing definitely lines up.

I’m pretty convinced we sign Solomon off the back of this news. It’s way too much of a coincidence given their chairman was threatening to sue us last week.

Presumably he's the Lucas replacement. Can't really ask for better than him for a bit-part role judging by what he produced for Fulham.

How the fuck did I not put 2&2 together on this like some of you did?!? No wonder the mods (well @Archibald&Crooks mainly) and herc and trix call us thick - definitely deserved

Yeah let’s hope we get some news on this soon. Would be a great weapon to have, let son press and play hard for 60 mins then bring on solomun last 30 against tired defences

Im not sure he's the Lucas replacement as they play on different sides. I'd much rather Solomon then Barnes as I think he's a much better fit technically for Ange's system then Barnes is but I must say I do still find RW a bit of a hole. I know there is the question of Gil but he is so much better on the left then on the right, maybe it can be coached but just because he's left footed doesn't mean he can play inverted.

Worst comes to the worst and he doesn’t settle, we flog him to Fulham for £10 million next summer. Nobody really loses out.

I'm pretty sure it was in an Ally Gold video but it seemed part of the brief was looking at wingers who can play on either flank and Ange seems to like players who can complete 1 v 1 take ons in either direction.

I took that as back up to Kulusevski OR Son and battling it out vs. Gil. Seems like Ange may take a look at Gil and as others mentioned on here, not an absolutely pressing need. I still think it's very important we address it after Sonny's last season being a bit meh. I back him to improve it but you still want that little bit of succession planning just in case.

Screams to me that this is one that opportunities will be assessed throughout the Summer. Wouldn't be surprised if a deal was agreed out of nowhere, or it wouldn't surprise me to get in a loan last minute if no one "perfect" crops up. Would really like Solomon myself, but I could see the club avoiding due to getting dragged into any further legal issues.
Yep, he did say that and for that reason, albeit on limited evidence, i can't have Porro moving to a wing forward position as i didn't see him beat his man once since he arrived (but happy for anyone to correct me on that !).

How they rank in successful take-ons per 90:

1. Solomon - 2.99
2. Kulusevski - 2.06
3. Spence - 1.94
4. Gil - 1.81
5. Udogie - 1.7
6. Porro - 1.21
7. Richarlison - .98
8. Perisic - .87
9. Danjuma - .82

Obviously Solomon only played about 30 mins an appearance so take with salt, but it is something that is desperately needed

Right side will be fine as Porro can play forward, Maddison can play in from the right and Kulusevski so there's 3 options. I guess keeping Gil is less likely if we get Soloman but if we did he would be better suited as an outside left winger for sure. With the other 3 we're well covered though and then you have the likes of Son and Richarlison as backups that side if it comes to it. With no Europe I think Soloman and Maddison will be enough for attack and then maybe get a central midfielder to replace Hojbjerg.

Find it interesting that when this link came out about a month ago, the ITK's on here suggested it was real & since then, it's all been quiet. Maybe now it heats back up.
