Funny thing is, his star falling has nothing to do with anything he did. He only lost his place because PSG spunked about £300m on Neymar and Mbappe. This signing has a lot of upside whatever way you look at it, which is why Levy deserves credit for this kind of move.
For a start he offers qualities that we dont have too much of, so he could really enhance our attack and importantly our quality in depth.
But the price, as mentioned by others, is staggering given today's market. I know his star has fallen a bit but that's exactly why we're all over it, this is precisely the time to move for a player of this ilk.
His stock is lowish at the moment but there's a lot of untapped potential there which is probably one of the main attractions for us.
Let's not forgot he has contributed, and pretty handsomely, for one of the biggest Clubs in Europe at the moment and we obviously feel he's capable of developing and excelling further, something Pochettino excels in frequently - improving players.
It'll take Lucas a bit to get back up to 90' fitness but until then, he will be an excellent option off the bench. Just hope Poch will bring him on when he has enough time to make a difference, which, of course, is very unlike Poch as anytime he makes a change before like 75th minute, it's a small miracle.
