Great to read so many truly positive posts about Vertonghen. He is an amazing player who has enjoyed really at least 3 great seasons in a row. He is easily the payer that's been performing the most consistently on an exceptional level during the Pochettino years.

I hope you pointed out that he was voted in the PFA team of the year. So the players in the PL obviously don't think he's "shocking".

Vertonghen was the only defender to get any votes in the writers player of the year announced earlier. Eriksen got some too and Kane finished 3rd behind Salah and De Bruyne.

Glad the ‘experts’ as well as other players are seeing in Verts what the fans have been seeing for a while.

Such a leader in this team now, you have to say that Poch has done a fantastic job with him. If Dembele played with the same fire and determination he would be the world's best CM. Unfortunately he only has that fire 1 in 10 games. Still a great player but I wish we could bottle Jan up and get the other players to inject his fight into their veins.

Just a quick post to note that Jan became the first ever Belgian player to earn 100 caps today, 11 years to the day since he won his first.

A testament to just how consistently excellent he's been for us, Ajax and Belgium.
