starting to show glimpses of how he was before his injury, but the injury has knocked him back a bit. Same with Bentancur, still trying to get back to 100% after a long layoff. Van de Ven seems to be the only one so far that has come back from his injury the same as he was before.

He has been in full training for 6 weeks , played the last 5 games , it’s odd that a player should take this long to find his form again . Expecting a lot more from him to be honest . I feel like we are forever making excuses for our players .

Some players take a while to get back up to match sharpness. And it's even harder in a side that's constantly changing due to injuries.

A delightful assist to the winning goal was pretty nice!

Or maybe the above is just an excuse?

He's probably the only player who would play that dinked cross for Romero. We've missed that ability in the final third.

I thought he played really well yesterday on the whole. He tried a lot that didn't come off and some of his passing wasn't crisp but there was plenty to like. Lovely player to have

Think he's gone from doing the simple things and keeping it ticking over with the occasional nice through pass which was coming as part of our passing and moving to forcing it a bit and trying the expansive passes when they're not really on.
Whether that is on him or the team not working as cohesively 🤷‍♂️
Whatever the reason, he needs to go back to being more central to our play, knocking it around and finding pockets of space.

Per BBC: Across his last 50 Premier League appearances for Leicester and Spurs, James Maddison has had a hand in 36 goals, scoring 17 times and assisting 19 goals.

How long until someone on here suggests selling him as he’s not been quite the same player since he was injured?

Was cracking little flick of the outside of the boot.

Romero's guided his glancing header perfectly to.

I was at the Brentford game (his first back from injury) and the Palace game.

You can see he was more influential on Saturday...beginning to make us tick more.

Think the oppo have started to mark him a lot closer, which is probaby why we're not seeing him at his best. It's up to him to play the game now, he's not silly, he'll know what to do to work himself into space and get back in the groove.

Have to see if Villa try to kick him off the park like they did to Bentancur.

I think it was mentioned earlier in this thread that he had a reputation at Leicester for taking his time to find his feet when coming back from injuries.

Wonder if they'll dare play Cash.

Bents in current form would get a pass...mebbe next best player selected for the Villa chop could be Mads as you suggest.

Bet they will put Cash out there with the hopes of drawing a red card from us.

2nd half was much more like it from Madders, 1st half he was too tentative and safe. 2nd half he was the driving force, he was instigating and taking risks with the ball, his assist was delightful and impudent. We need that spontaneity from him
