I think not only is Levy a ……….., I also think he’s not great at business. Don’t get fooled because so I’ve is very rich that they’re that great. He’s not a moron but he is also short sighted with certain aspects of football. He’s one up from sugar who was basically a big time market trader.
I work in an industry dealing with lots of money and the incompetents is spellbinding. For years I assumed they knew what they were doing, they didn’t. If he fucks up Maddison for the sake of 10 million will sum him up. Get a great feeling around the club, make everyone who’s staying to feel like they’re part of something special. Ship off the players they want rid of and take the hit on extremely low transfer fees. Then we can move forward as a unit that means business.
so many people in football hate dealing with Levy it’s actually debilitating.
All the ITK and all the talk ( they aren’t wrong) of transfers being really difficult is because of the way we go about our business.
He will deserve all the poison that comes his way if he fucks this up.
maddison is exactly what we need.

What has given you the impression that he is on his way to fucking it up? This rant seems to have come from nowhere. Did someone shit in your Ready Brek?

I think he's worth 50 million in todays market regardless of the one year left..

Certainly he is to us if the manager wants him...with his proven pedigree.
Agree.

It depends on our overall budget and what Ange thinks of certain other players and therefore how many players we need to sign and also will we be selling Kane so lots of if buts and maybes.

But in theory it’s quite simple as you say.

He’s a top top quality player, he’s prem proven, he’s homegrown, he’s creative, set-pieces are top class and he gets goals and assists and he’s interested in coming and his agency is on good terms with us so really we should just be slapping down a decent bid of £50mil with a deadline and saying take it or leave it.

We would have planned for it when setting our budget last year.

I assume that Levy sold Joe on the idea of investing last year based on being in CL, and we would continue to qualify, making it a low-risk investment. I think it would be hard for Levy to go back to Lewis now and ask for more money.
Between the summer and Jan we dropped like 100m the season prior when we only had Conf League. 150m if you take into account the deferred fee for Romero.

Post-stadium and crazy TV money I think we're kinda in a position where we can afford to drop 100m+ on transfers per season, especially given how we tend structure our deals and do sneaky loans.

Arsenal have done exactly the same for about 5-6 years now without getting into the CL once (until now) and seem to be fine.
