Perisic was shite last year and at his age I can't see him being any better this season. Move him on
13 goals and assists in all competitions really is a new benchmark for ‘shite’.

He clearly wasn’t good enough defensively but we won’t have to worry about that with a fullback behind him.

It’s almost like fans think it was Gianno Vio himself that provided assist after assist with both feet.

He’s perfectly capable of being a useful squad player, especially during a season where we’ve lost tons of experience with players like Kane and Hugo leaving.

Perisic should in no way leave. He has adapted to his role excellently, is still impressively fit, has the right mentality, he’s versatile, will put in the effort when needed and wont complain if he’s primarily a sub. He’s also probably our best crosser of the ball, certainly out of the wingers and full backs. He will probably go on a free next summer and that suits us perfectly. I see zero upside to getting rid of him.

I can £9.7m in wages is a lot if he if he is not a regular and is only gonna play 10-12 games.

Ginola was good, but man, Sonny is something else, as you never know which foot he will pass or shoot with. it just falls naturally to Son, while the others had their favourite foot, i am not sure Son what Son's main foot actually is
I'm sure I remember an interview with Huddlestone where he was asked whether he was right of left footed and he replied "I don't know". Or something along those lines anyway 😂

Back onto Perisic. Really suits the wide forward role in this new system, would definitely keep for the season and see where we go from there.

Isn’t that the mentality of a big club tho? Having good players on the sidelines who are dependable and there when needed. No player of Perisic’s level is going to be on small wages. Reality is if we wanted to move him on we would probably have to release him and even if we spent £10 mil on a replacement we wouldn’t be able to find a player who would be able to contribute to the same level as he would in those 10-12 games.

Even if we bought Chiesa say, who is probably the most established WF we have been linked to so far this window, there would still be use for Perisic. Also I’d hazard a guess that Perisic will contribute more to our season then a young raw talent such as Nuamah would if we were to buy him.

If your telling me that getting Chiesa is dependent on getting rid of Perisic then sure, move him on, but considering how well Ange speakers about him I think the chances of that being the case are slim to none.

Also our wage bill is low in comparison to the other top clubs so it’s not going to effect us much one way or another one would think.

Seem he's enjoying his new role as impact sub. Soon as he enters the field, he's closing down players and doing his bit to help defensively which blends nicely with his ability to cross with either foot and assist with the odd goal.

Perisic, Holjbjerg, Davies are a little band of experienced old hands he puts on to see out the game. Much better game management than just sitting back trying to defend your lead.

I thought he was good when he came on. Far more suited further up the pitch, still has good fitness and was instrumental in the 2nd goal.

Think Kulu would do well to watch his delivery. Kulu didn't have a terrible game in terms of positions he got into and attacking runs, but his delivery was often too late. Perisic was far more aggressive getting crosses into the box.

Sadly, we currently appear to lack a focal target in the box to convert Perisic’s crosses. But he looks more effective than Son off the flank, yet Sonny doesn’t quite have the aerial presence to command the CF position. Until Richarlison can find his feet (or head), or we look to replace Kane with an alternative, e we will continue to struggle to break down teams with a low block like Brentford.

Perisic understandably didn't have the legs to get up and down the pitch enough for a wing back but as an impact sub further forward he's a very good option.

Yes, his wage is high but he only has one year more. Our wage bill is way below Utd, City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

I think keeping him for this season is the right way to go.

He also seems to have a very positive attitude, really great player to bring off the bench late in the game. Pleased he's stayed around, we're a young squad and hard working pros like him and Davies will really help the squad being around it.

Agree.

I've always said we should look for more deals like Naybet and Davids. High quality ageing players on short contracts whose attitude, leadership and willingness to be squad players justify the salary.

Madness to think some people wanted him gone, a rare winner in this squad, pleased his showing his undoubted quality

He’s having something of a renaissance, back in his real position instead of a converted fullback and he’s having positive attacking influence on games.

His ambidexterity and ability to get off a cross with little space makes him so difficult to defend against on that left wing. If we had a big, central forward for him to target in the middle he would rack up the assists.

Yep especially at his age wing back is far too much running. In this high up the pitch winger role off the bench that is absolutely perfect for him.

He’s a bit past his best obviously but it’s so clear how absolutely class he was and still is in terms of his technical ability, if we had a Vhalovic etc he’d be getting so many assists.
