I don't know about that buddy, I'm not sure most are changing history here. You're very welcome to your opinion, I just don't agree that he has been a "terrible captain" like you said in your earlier post.

Remember that being a good captain isn't just what us fans see on the pitch once a week. If you take a bigger picture view, during the 10 years Lloris has been at the club there has been a significant upswing in the team performance, including a couple league title races and a few major cup finals that unfortunately we didn't get over the line. Lloris has been a big contributor to that performance, both individually and as our club captain.

It's not being romantic to respect the excellent years of loyal service he's given to the club, with the entire prime years of his footballing career.
I think he’s been negative and boring and a GK is never a good captain and that we’d have poss won something had we had a better more inspirational leader.

Just my opinion tho.

an opinion that we have read 800x..... 😆

It wasn't a good year for him at all , but he was left so exposed by his defense. I wondered how much the degradation of his performance is related to him trying to overcompensate for that which was happening right in front of him. The team's defense seemed confused as to who was supposed to do what ( First offender, second defender) and lacked cohesion between themselves and between themselves and hugo.

We were lucky to have Lloris who was a safe pair of hands for so long and for decent fee. Before him we went through a lot of keepers, some horrors, some who had a great initial season or two but then massively dropped by the wayside, e.g. Neal Sullivan, Paul Robinson. No issue with him being captain. The time is right for a change and he himself wants a change. It is a difficult position to recruit. Hopefully we can find another safe pair of hands.

Terrible captain.

Great player and servant.

Should’ve been sold last summer.
Disagree with the first, agree with the second, wonder if you said the 3rd at the time (easy to say with hindsight). I find it incredible that people think he’s a terrible captain despite being chosen as captain by such a wide variety of managers. He’s been captain for Poch, Deschamps, Mourinho, Conte and more. Did they all just miss something you knew all along?

prefer to remember him for the great saves rather than the odd clangers. Been a great player for our club and wish him all the best

Great servant to the club. Will remember him for the crucial penalty saves, Aguero in the CL, the last minute one in the NLD at Wembley.

Think the main reason he has stayed is that no one better wanted him, he has been an above average keeper for us who has had good months as oppose to exceptional seasons, last few years poor distribution and inability to ever come off his line as well as the odd horror mistake has cost us, he has been decent but no better imo and certainly nowhere near as good as clemence was for those who says he is the best since jennings

Fuck me, he does 10 years at the club and people are debating whether he was any good.

Great servant for the club and the best goalkeeper in my lifetime I have seen play for us. Yes he tailed off and had a brain fart in him but I think it is sad that he didn't get to finish his career playing for us rather than being injured.

He’s far and away our best keeper of the Prem era. He’s been an excellent keeper for us.

He is on a bit of a decline now and it’s always best to leave before you can’t perform to the required level.

Whoever we sign has big boots to fill.

Said it a few weeks back and got hit with things like "brad freidel was good", and not to slander those before but having lloris as guarantee for 10 years has been well under appreciated vs the revolving door we had before.

For 10 years each summer nobody has been calling for a new GK, and thats not to be sniffed at. Hopefully we get someone who can lock down the next ten years but its far from guaranteed.

According to Fbref, Lloris has a better pass completion than David Raya.

It’s more than pass completion percentage.

Lloris was simply uncomfortable on the ball and many of his completed passes had defenders immediately under pressure.
I agree, I was just surprised at how little Lloris gave away possession compared to Raya, I would have thought it was the opposite.

Statistics means nothing. Most of Lloris’s passes were made in panic which lead to him passing to the nearest player who then was put under pressure from the opposition press leading to lost possession and goals against us. So yes loads of complete passes but It’s about the quality of pass that relieves the press and creates opportunities. Lloris must be one of the worst in the premiership if not the worst.
