Been in decline for a year or more, I said as much on here at the time and was slated. He's been fantastic but he's finished, if we want to progress we have to be ruthless as Fergie was with keepers.

Hugo is right when he says his future is linked to poch. When Poch leaves he'll go to a top club and our new manager will ship Hugo out to whoever will take him but I guarantee it won't be Poch so neither will be here next season but only one will move to a bigger club

I'm getting a little concerned for the guy, I wonder if he needs a break from football. Not just a few games, I mean, take a break, like a season off or something. He's not the same focused guy he was eighteen months ago and while he can pull off champion stops like he did against West Ham, he looks... I dunno, bothered about something. Like his head's not 100% on the game unless he's right in the fire.

Still, Gazzaniga looks like he's got a bright future, lets hope he's ready to step up if this carries on. Actually surprised he didn't get a start tonight.

This has been my argument about Lloris for 2 seasons now.
He is keeper who makes great saves not a great keeper.
His mistakes are really costing us nowadays. We would be better with a steady consistent keeper than one that’s up and down as much as Hugo

He does make mistakes admittedly BUT today the mistake was Eriksen not Lloris. One leads to the other but the root cause was Eriksen and I suspect Eriksen even knows that.

He has rushed out a fair bit lately and I am suspecting its because we dont have the pace we used to from the likes of Walker and Rose. Today he HAD to come out in my view, I sound like a broken record and understand those who say he didnt but I thought he made the correct decision.

Why haven't any of the coaching team just told him to not do it? If that's the case and he continues to do it then that's on him. It's why he never joined a bigger club. Not out of some kind of blind loyalty.

It's clear Hugo is Poch's boy too. They're tight and even if the opportunity was there he wouldn't be replaced.

The manager and the coaches want him to play as a sweeper keeper. You can blame him for messing up the tackle, but he clearly has instructions to come out if he thinks he can get the ball.

He does seem prone to messing up in the big matches though. I wonder if he needs help with the physiological aspect of the game.

Tricky one this. He’s clearly going through a tough time at the moment both on and off the pitch. He has been one of the best ‘sweeper keepers’ over the last few years. Having a keeper who can do this reliably is a huge part of our game, allowing us to play a high line.
I’m wondering if it’s as simple as he’s lost a yard of pace? It happens. The margin of error for his decisions is so minimal any mis-judgement looks huge. Couple this with his head appearing to be elsewhere at the moment and errors are going to happen.
I love the guy though, and hope he gets back to what we know he can be.
It also may be worth remembering he’s saved us more times than he’s let us down, even though recently the mistakes have seemingly been in the bigger games.
COYS.

For a World Cup winning goalkeeper, he is shockingly unreliable.

For all his heroics, far too often the blame for dropped points can be firmly placed on his shoulders. This isn’t a new thing, he’s been in steady decline for years.

He can’t step up to the big occasions, and as the club captain I don’t think that’s a mentality he should be leading with.

Wouldn’t be sad to see the back of him, he’s had his day, it’s time to go.

I'd cash in on him now while his value is still high. Keepers selling for 70mil now, we'd be mad to refuse 50 mil+. Time for fresh blood but Poch won't agree.

LOL a player plays in the way he has for years and the way he's instructed, and makes an understandable error literally 4 days after winning a big game for us pretty much by himself.

"Melt, melt, melt, get rid of him etc."

Honestly, this fucking place.

I guarantee too that the same people who are criticizing him for this are the same who also whinge when he doesn't make the decision to come out.

It's reminiscent of the talk of Walker 3 months before he left to become a Premier League winner

lol, what a lot of rubbish I'm reading.

In case you guys are forgetting, the first goal we let in was because of a tremendus cock up from our main defensive guys. The play in which Hugo got his red was shaping up very similarly to that of the first PSV goal and I, for one, totally understand the decision of Hugo to go out for the ball and agree with it, actually.

But sure, you guys keep making him the scape goat. Hope your wish is made real and soon we end up with a goal keeper half as good as Hugo.

People aren't taking this into account at all. Lazy at the back break away he doesn't come out... goal. He comes out the second time, as a result of the first goal. Short memory on here.

Lets also forget the number of chances we could have put away to kill the game at 2-1, the fact that the goal wasn't even conceded by Hugo and that it was a harsh red card.

Big game mistakes off the top of my head. Psv, Barcelona , Manchester city home and away , chelsea home , Liverpool away , arsenal home. That’s over the last few years .

David de gea in comparison barely any.

I love Hugo but this is a trend or else we wouldn’t all be talking about it again

I really think most people are merely commenting on a pattern of errors that goes back quite a whole now. Yes, he’s still a talented keeper, well capable of performances like against West Ham, but for a couple of seasons now he’s been making errors that a top keeper shouldn’t.

I love him. He’s probably the best keeper in my Spurs supporting life (back to ‘86). But I can’t ignore that his form has been on a downward curve for a long time.

De gea had an Atrocious world cup and made mistakes in every group match.

That last sentence is bang on. There is not a single GK we could get who is better than Hugo. Not least because there's only a handful in the world who fit that bill and every one of them would have an astronomical price.
