Barca have very good academy. if they can not offer us money, they can just give us some of their highly-rated young kids for lo celso.

Barca will have no intention of paying us any money for GLC, they'll only want a loan and make their interest public to turn the players head, same as they did with Felix and Torres. The way they operate is piss poor. They'll likely expect us to cover his wages too.

Gallagher may not be a better player than Gio however he is undoubtedly better suited to the way Ange wants us to play with his ability to press and his superb work rate, also he is home grown. I'm not saying we should be rushing to sell Gio in January but I do think if somebody gives us a good offer that we should certainly consider it due to his contract situation. We won't sell both Gio and PEH in January but we might sell one depending on offers and if we can get the likes of Gallagher in. As you said though the number one priority is clearly another centre back however central midfield is not far behind.
There is so much more to Anges game than just pressing. Gallagher has a great engine but he is a major downgrade on Gio in term of passing and footballing ability.

Agreed, If we were facing a low block id want gio over Gallagher. His passing between the lines is so so good and as we've seen he can score. We need options for different occasions, if we were facing a low block having benta gio madds as the 3 would have so much creativity, goal scoring and dribbling ability to break teams down.

But if we are facing a top team who we will likely share or concede possession to then id want sarr in there for his legs and one of benta and biss. Tbh, I think we could play biss sarr benta in a game against a city or something and try to completely blitz them in midfield, the engine, pace, power and ability of that could dominate all midfields.

Yep.

It makes me laugh when I read on here about how we can 'raise funds' by selling X Y and Z player when most of the clubs who are interested in those players just think we are going to do them a favour, and give them the player for a loan with an option or something similar. This example is a case in point. Same with the Atletico interest in Hojbjerg.

When are the injuries going to stop ? 🤷‍♂️

Giovani Lo Celso will miss this Friday's trip to Nottingham Forest, Ange Postecoglou has confirmed.

The midfielder, who has enjoyed a bright un of form over the last month with a number of goals in Lilywhite, picked up a knock in training and will now be unavailable for selection as we head to the East Midlands on Friday night (kick-off 8pm UK).

However, our Head Coach believes the injury is 'nothing serious' and there is hope that the Argentina international will be back in training soon.

"We've still got quite a significant absence - we've got eight on the treatment table," Ange explained. "Unfortunately Giovani Lo Celso will join them, he'll miss this week, hopefully nothing too bad.

"It's a slight injury in training... nothing serious.

In terms of the guys from last week, we're one more down but the rest of the guys are alright."

I hope Donley will have at least 10 minutes on the pitch, not Skipp. I like Skipp, but he is not CAM.

You often hear ex-players saying they were very, very rarely 100% fit during the season. Always some niggle or other. But they played through it.
I do wonder whether Gio is one of those that refuses to play with any pain.

Just need to look at Sonny, I don't think we've had a fully fit Son for a few years now as he's always carrying something

Shame but sounds small so hopefully back for the Christmas week of games. I would have started the same 11 for this one anyway but he's useful off the bench at least.

I highly doubt this is the case. Some injuries involve subjective assessments of pain but most can be diagnosed objectively. In any case Gio doesn’t seem the type to me and it’s clearly not in his interest to miss a game.

Are you actually Daniel levy? This kind of thinking is why we sold Sanchez in the summer and left ourselves short. How much more do you think GLC is worth in Jan than next summer, because it sure as hell isn’t as much as the difference between making the CL or not. You say ‘when everyone is fit he won’t get a look in’ - well first, everyone isn’t fit, in fact all of our top 4 midfielders are already injured or are going to miss time. Second he will get plenty of game time if we’re back in Europe, but that’s another call for the summer. Our squad isn’t deep enough to risk letting a productive player go, especially with the injuries we already have and AFCON. It’s madness
Personally, I think that with the market as it is, we have to consider any half decent offer we get on a player that has no future at the club.
As with big Dav, I'd rather clear them out when the chance arises and suffer the short term consequences, than carry on with a bloated squad of players that we don't want, or can't shift.

It's not ideal but it's where we are, we've got to clear the space to be able to rebuild the squad.
I don't expect everyone to feel the same but that's my current stance at present, we can't keep hanging in to players "just in case".

Of course, ideally we'd sell and replace but I don't think we can afford not to sell if the opportunity presents itself.
It's not about a decreasing value for me, it's about the spaces in the squad and the need to clear the decks.

I can ignore this injury as he's been good these last few games, got some credit in the bank. It seems minor and we have Kulu in his position.
