I don’t fully comprehend to economic rights part? Plus, could the unthinkable happen and we don’t qualify for Europe, thereby not signing him?

Unlikely as that is, it scares me
I interpreted that as not paying them the 40m but your interpretation makes more sense and is even more genius. No obligation to buy at that point. We may not have the money to pay him due to lack of European football so we would need to renegotiate to sign him again at that point if we still wanted him. It’s the perfect hedge to a buy IMO, because you match your cash flows to the situation. I would imagine we still have the option at 40M but it is not mandatory.

Hope we announce it early-ish so I can relax and enjoy the rest of deadline day.

If it's approaching 5 and we haven't announced him I'll be shitting bricks.

Don’t fully understand what this means, but as long as he wears our uniform and plays for us I’m all good.

Perhaps we negotiate the Betis part and the PSG part separately. 55 (assuming minimum of Europa) plus CL bonus for Betis and the rest to PSG.

If this is true, it’s brilliant by Levy. For those who wonder why it takes so long to get transfers over the line, this should bring some understanding to the complexity of these deals and the tedious negotiations that take place.

I think we were looking at two anyway, regardless of whether Erikssen signed or not. At this point, Erikssen needs to go. Attitude is terrible.
Remember when Modric wanted out? His heart and head weren't in it until the transfer window closed with him still at Spurs and he knuckled down and played a great final season for us. I'd expect Eriksen to do the same.

Loan deal for 16m with an obligation to buy? If that's true, Daniel has pulled off some financial sorcery in the past, but this shit is Harry Potteresque!! Wowzers.

JUST PAY THE MONEY LEV....ah

It turns out he's a bit of a genius :ROFLMAO:
If this is correct then Levy has played an absolute blinder. LEGEND.
Levy’s played more of a blinder than we even imagined.
Holy shit, Levy taking it to a whole new level.
Damn if DL pulls this off (GLC loan, Sess, PD) he's a F'ing genius!!

I wonder, should this come off, if any of the people apoplectic with rage at how long this all has taken will have a sudden appreciation of quite how brilliant this all is.

Dybala and Lo Celso this summer for less initial outlay than Arsenal paid for Pepe.
My God, DL really is playing a different game than everyone else, isn't he?
If Daniel Levy was Chancellor of Exchequer this country we wouldn't have so many financial woes!

This loan deal business..: just a thought but seen some people have already started thinking it’s to keep funds free for Dybala.

My immediate thought is could it be down to the Eriksen situation. If we knew we were going to sell him then we would buy immediately now. But as it’s up in the air at the moment we haven’t got the funds to do the deal permanently this summer but given all indications are he is more than likely to be gone next summer that we are pre committing some of our budget for next summmer to completing the deal then?

Guess in round about way saying We are signing GLC and RS and that’s it as Eriksen is staying till next summer at least. Which if we see the pre January 2019 Eriksen in attitude and performance that’s good with me.

I have a feeling it isn't this simple. 1. Betis get more. 2. We have funds free for Dybala because we don't want to be pushed into a corner and forced to sell Eriksen. Even though we expect we sell him. 3. We don't sell Eriksen and we still have funds free for other deals.

IMO, this has nothing to do with Eriksen. This is all down to Betis trying to get the bigger pie from the transaction. There was even a ITK about Levy & Betis looking for ways to increase the pie for Betis. This could also be why deal was on/off/on/off with all parties trying to look after themselves.

This is genius from baldy & Betis chairman as well

100% agree. We wouldnt have paid it all up front anyway and so there is always money left for this season.
