So you are saying because we signed ndombele this window will have lived up to the big build up no matter what happens ?
What big build up? If you take everything with a pinch of salt what would what anything anyone else says/mentions matter to someone like you? What have we fallen short of?

I was replying to a poster who clearly feels let down after hearing positive noises throughout the summer, hence why i said its important to take things with a pinch of salt, so they don't feel too let down when it comes to expectations vs reality ...

For future windows it is important to take everything you hear with a pinch of salt, as spurs fans we are used to the big build up but ultimately fall short, harsh but true.

Absolutely, but in all honesty I'm pretty sure I would find it strange even without following any ITK/media gossip and without having any sort of big build up.

Almost down to the last week of the window and we've only brought in one player, after two windows of signing no one also. As stupid as I may be for thinking it considering our almost inability to execute in transfer windows now, I still really thought we'd have more than one new player in come this stage.

Before the negativity police say anything I know there's still time left and the outlook could completely change, but I think you'd also be a fool to rule out that this window just may not end well.

Some of the panic is unreal.
No news doesn't necessarily mean bad news. Plus a good performance last night. I don't get it. Hopefully GLC happens but for me the board have dealt with most obvious gaping hole in our squad with probably the best player we could have possibly signed in that position. I think some patience is required here.

What big build up?

Telling other people to use a pinch of salt then ask me about a big build up (no clue what big build up) bit of a contradiction in terms, isn't it?

Breaking a glass ceiling on a player that most seemed to suggest was Poch's number one target (no idea about the rest of the squad) is pretty big and would rank highly considering he was also purchased before preseason. If the goalposts are being moved on what is and isn't big, then I better review the terms ...

BORING FINANCE COMMENT BELOW:

The big difference with selling an "normal" asset and selling something on trade credit is that the credit is not from the bank, but is from the seller.

In the case of your house, you put it on the market for 325k and someone offers 290k, that is real money at todays value. If they had said that they will pay 325k but over ten years then you have to consider the fact that the value of money is always falling. The 32.5k you would get in year ten is actually only worth around 22.75k - this is why the structure of the deal is so vital and makes a seemingly simple negotiation difficult.

In your case (the house as an example) you would be better off accepting 290k now than 325 over ten years (works out around 247k at current inflation rates) .

I can’t recalll who Reals president was when Levy was pretending to buy Morientes- does he think he’s trying to buy a fking washing machine on HP or something?

The big build up as in all the positive noises about spending during the summer including levy himself who said now it's time to invest in the team. Like i said, me personally i take it with a pinch of salt but i can see where others are coming from in regards to a 'big build up', it doesn't affect me because i'm used to it.

Anyways we shall see what happens at the end of the window, all im saying is whilst i am not confident & take things as they come, i can see why others are getting frustrated

Yes take all the ITK with a pinch of salt as no expectation, no disappointment . However after last Summers transfer window people are entitled to a bit of bed-wetting when it goes all quiet on news of incomings. Rewind back a few weeks and the positivity was infectious on here. Now after some fannying about by Betis and Fulham we are reverting to type namely disappointed with a lot of talk and no action.

After what we have gone through transfer wise over last couple of years we can have a meltdown now and again as its the hope that kills you. Personally I think one part of the equation is holding everything up and if that an be solved then we will see a lot of movement. Whether that is GLC coming or Eriksen staying or going or even another transfer happening that we are not involved in which in turn gets things going I am not sure. But if it happens then things will move fairly quickly after that.

Nah, you contradicted yourself and now the only thing missing from the end of this statement is - 'I'd love to be wrong'

We've spent cash in this window - people's perception - obviously from what you're saying not yours, clearly, is misplaced then.

I totally agree with you but apparently i'm not allowed to tell others to take things with a pinch of salt even tho i sympathise with them

People getting moaned at for having concerns. It's starting to get like Twitter, whereby anyone has just the slightest of negativity to their opinion and they're told they're "having a meltdown"... It's not a meltdown, it's people tired of getting their hopes up and thinking "this window will be different", only for it to start to pan out into that all familiar territory of mediocrity, and possible let down.

Blimey @Vinny_Sammways_left_peg, your general levels of optimism/pessimism within the Transfer Rumours sub-forums in the last 12 months has been more up and down than a nun on a cucumber patch.
I just wanted to see how the echo chamber that moves in these parts would react, it's good to know you're all singing from the same hymn sheet. Bit like the D&D forum. Humans are interesting, are they not?
