And Toby's clause is over at the end of this week.

Wow forgot about that. In my head he'd already gone from the club to be honest as I just couldn't seem him staying so it would be massive were he to stay.

Could well be a massive upcoming week relating to how we're shaping up for next season.

Exciting times indeed.

A top top addition to the squad to add to the superb Ndombele
Two players that for their previous teams break fast and drive their teams forward, so we'll hopefully see the end of our turgid slow build up play from last year.

Add to this Lo Celso has been schooled in possession football, pressing and winning the ball back quickly.

Pls be him in and Eriksen staying too?

Reading between the lines here, but Lo Celso media picked back up again last day or so about being very close. Low and behold, today it appears that could be true.
So in parallel, here’s where I’m reaching a bit, Sessegnon stories have ramped up also, so hopefully that’s about to follow suit.
Add to that Eriksen appearing happy at the media day today, could be be staying???

Adding Lo Celso, Sessegnon(s) and Eriksen staying is a big push in the right direction. Just keep Toby and Rose, maybe look for a Llorente replacement and we’re laughing.

Eriksen is an intelligent guy, you just have to hear him speak to realise this, so I’d say he’s looked at the situation with regards to RM and, despite that probably being what he originally saw as his ultimate destination, I doubt he saw it as a bit part player.

When he joined Spurs, we were definitely a stepping stone to greater things, Modric and Bale demonstrated this in spades, but Spurs are an entirely different prospect now. Whilst RM may be more likely to win trophies, being as their league is largely a two horse race, he may see Spurs as being a serious contender too, all of which can, and probably has, changed the landscape for his decision making. Add to that Poch wants him here whilst Zidane appears ambivalent, I’m really not surprised that he’s looking likely to resign.

I’m proper chuffed about that too, despite some of the criticism some seem to want to level at him, I personally think he’s World Class. Couldn’t give a shit if he doesn’t tackle, he positions himself in a way that he doesn’t need to. He’s intelligent and arguably the hardest grafter in the team, I hope he sees out the remainder of his career with us now.

Will be even better if he can be rotated and not play every game.

This is a signing which, assuming we keep CE, taken along with Ndombele as well as Sessegnon gives us a depth that we so need. Man City have so many quality attacking options that a) they can rest players and b) their players have competition so complacency is not an option

Originally when this signing was talked about, it was not said to be a replacement for Eriksen. So I think it's with a view to rotate and create competition for positions, which is something we severely lacked last season. Only have to look at our bench in the CL 1/4s and final compared to City and Liverpools

Think Lamela will seriously struggle for game time lo celso has so many different attributes, he could play anywhere from a deep lying midfielder to playing off Kane. Him and Ndombele are prophet statement signings I ain’t been this excited about a season since the days of Hoddle waddle and ardlies

Those things are true but ultimately it is simply the quality that they bring. I dont think our players are complacent at all, they are simply at their maximum as a team. Tactically ie effort, shape etc we are very good and have the best of the vast majority of the games we play. We played city 4 times and had the best of it twice and were even in the other game, yet lost twice. Played pool 3 times and had the best of it twice yet lost all 3. What we lacked was simply the variety and quality required to go that extra yard to make our dominance translate into a victory.

What the signings of Ndombele and hopefully GLC will give us is greater flexibility and creative quality without compromising our defensive solidity. We sacrificed that last year because we had no choice. Hopefully we can now set up more solid at the back and let our creative players go and win the game.

I'm optimistic that this signing will happen, mostly because this is about as early as it could happen realistically. We had the cl and he had the copa America, we couldn't have got it done any sooner. He is clearly the target regardless of eriksen and it appears that if Eriksen leaves we will target another player to replace him.

Exciting times!

I'm fearful with terrifying and irrational certainty that he'll flop hard and I'll also be devastated if this now falls through. Weird mix of emotions.
