Dele Alli:

  • 23 years old. Five years left on his contract.
  • Four years experience in the toughest league in the world, during which he has scored 71 combined assists from midfield in 131 league appearances, better than a goal output every 2 games and without taking any set pieces. Some absolutely belting goals and hugely inventive assists in there too.
  • For context, a player likely to command £90m at least this summer, Paul Pogba, has a rate of 47 goals+assists in the premier league across three seasons and 95 matches, a lower output than Dele. Pogba is also 26. He takes penalties too.
  • During that same time period, Dele has produced 55 combined league goals and assists.
  • Two major international tournaments amidst 37 caps.

Based on all this, how much is a Dele worth? A fucking lot. One injury hit season doesn’t change that.

What does "scored 71 combined assists" mean? Genuine question. He has 71 goals and assists combined?
I reworded as I’d original split it into 42 goals plus 29 assists, then changed my mind and made it combined 71, and was poor on my sentence reworking. That’s all.

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see us go back to the double pivot midfield on some occasions with no dedicated DM at all.

I feel Winks and Ndombele would be more complete all round midfielders doing this than Mason (loved him to bits though!) and Bentaleb were.

Trouble with Mason and Bentaleb was that neither of them had an ounce of defensive instinct. You need one of them to take control of that aspect for it to work IMO.

FYP otherwise spot on

To many people play FM and their players don't suffer after a world cup. we also as a club are not used to every single one of our best team prior the World Cup, went to the tournament. every single one of the 12 that went suffered injuries during the season, Toby might of not, but had most of the previous season off.

they might be Athletes but they don't run on Duracell. our best 4 players of the season was Son, still had his bad games. Toby still had a few bad games, Jan had 2 long layoffs. The only 1 was Sissoko, and he still had too many bad moments. even Eriksen still had 1 of his best seasons for goals scored and assist, but so many where on Dele's and Eriksen's seasons.

Wise up.
He spent 14 months often playing a deeper role for club and country, developing another skill-set. His defensive work is excellent. When given the green light to play his favoured attacking mid role in around Kane he is superb. He played with fatigue and injury. Should I go on?

Dele is worth at least 150 mill with current prices. I personally think he is absolutely irreplaceable.
That people still question him is (IMO) because they read the hacks as opposed to watching the player.

FWIW between Ndombele’s speed of transition and Lo Celso’s faster work, I think we would see Dele playing his favourite position and slaying everyone.
