Eventually Betis will meet us halfway or some shit dw, the player wants the move, I'm sure Betis would like the money, the deal will be done. I'm calling it.

Sorry to be such an old dadtwat, but can someone confirm whether the very recent updates regarding us moving closer to signing him are reliable or not?

Thanks
I read through the thread on Betisweb and although there's a bit of antipathy for the journalist Pepe Elias from the posters there (lots of references to him being a drunkard, and one thread from 2015 in which he was accused of being menopausal) it nevertheless seems to be the case that he's regarded as being very close to the Betis board. One poster was insisting that Sky Sports had said negotiations were off, and the response was that Pepe Elias was much closer to Betis than Sky are to Spurs. Can't be certain but it seems as though this may be a goer.

Theoretically, just say we do go for it and sign him.

I'm wondering if we would get it done straight after argentina finish copa america on Saturday and then let him have his holiday and rest and slowly integrate him into pre season when he comes back a bit later than everyone.

Or would we let him have his holiday and then deal when hes finished?

That's just my 2 cent thoughts....

I have accepted the fact of potentially losing Eriksen this window. Would love lo celso and another creative AM (ceballos?) to come in. Ndombele, Lo Celso and Ceballos would be amazing....I know thats very optimistic thinking haha

It feels like Ndombele should be a more expensive player than Lo Celso though, feels like a higher calibre player IMO. But whatever, if Poch has earmarked him we should go all out.

When he has four years left on his contract and a high release clause we aren’t in that strong a position to negotiate. It’s expensive but as far as I know Betis aren’t desperate for money. Players like Havertz, Fernandes, Zaniolo, Maddison wouldn’t be much cheaper. I just wonder if we would be better off going with someone like Brooks, Fekir or van de Beek who would be cheaper options.

Also Betis are historically a mid-table club and were relegated a couple seasons ago. They can play hardball and I'm sure they are also none to thrilled about PSG having a 25% sell-on fee, but if Lo Celso wants to go there is no way they can turn down a bid in the 60m range.

Copa America finishes this weekend, if this is a goer, my guess is we finish this up next week and then Lo Celso goes on post-Copa holiday and joins up to play in the Audi Cup after the squad gets back from China.

Also, Herc mentioned players instructing their agents to get it done (as in, coming to Spurs). This could well be one of those.

Ooo Kai Havertz. Now that's a prospect! Wrong thread I know and am sorry but hes surely got to have some teams after him

EDIT: I hope we are one of the teams after him!

Historically we have been bullied by bigger clubs who wanted our best players. Despite our best efforts, we more often than not lost them.

We are now one of those bigger teams and I honestly believe that if we want Lo Celso, we will get him. I find it hard to believe that Betis can turn down around £60 million for him. They can play all the games they want, but I'm confident Levy will come out on top.

Levy really does seem to be backing Poch. The past three seasons, we have acquired less and less points and it was clear the 2nd part of last season that the team was stagnating, we literally scraped into the Champions League for next season. It looks like Levy is finally going to back Poch.

The latest reports (as in the past few hours) would correlate with Hercules game of poker comment yesterday....Daniel does enjoy himself a game
Betis Web has mentioned Ceballos as a potential replacement for Celso (he came from Betis). If they can afford him or not, who knows. It's quite a poker hand to be able to control the destiny of their primary replacement too when involved in negotiations with them, if indeed Ceballos prefers us.
