Such a shame Moaninho was the manager for the return of the prodigal son.

Kind of feel he neutered Bale’s potential performance that season.

That season he scored 11 goals in 20 Premier league appearances.

He scored 16 in 34 overall.

In reality it was a superb return.

That winner against West Ham is the one that always sticks out for me. Fucking loved that goal. IThe best assist for it ever as well.
Ridiculously good goal. One of my favourite „player magic” moments in the past 15 years. Another one is Modric nutmegging two Stoke players with one slick turn, wish I could find a video of it.

Yep, but had the potential for so much more if he hadn’t been used so sparingly.

A lot of those appearances were from the bench because he didn’t fit Jose’s low block.

What a player. Truly one of the world's best in his prime. I remember him still as a left back running past people for fun in the 89th minute and even I could see he was special back then. Shame he couldn't stay but what're you gonna do when Real Madrid come calling? For me the outstanding memory has to be how he mauled Inter Milan and Maicon for our 3-1 home victory in our first ever CL season.

Unbelievable player for us, there was a time where you believed something would happen every time he had the ball. Such a shame the fans couldn't be in the stadium for his return. Remarkable player

It was a shame, plus covid meaning no one could welcome him back, however I think its been hinted the truth is somewhere in the middle of that.
Perhaps saving himself for internationals for whatever reason at certain times or just not fully committed. Maybe the love of the crowd would have lifted him more.
All a great shame as we waited so long for the return, actually got it and then it wasn't maximised for whatever reason.

Outstanding player though and grateful for the wonderful moments he gave us.

Not particularly a huge fan of Bale as a person, just doesn’t come across as particularly warm or likeable
I've been fortunate enough to bump into him a couple of times during his first spell with us and he is (was) very polite, chatty, and humble.

His true personality comes out much more during interviews in which he has other players or people to bounce off (Ben Davies and Joe Rodon especially) - even more so when he's not required to talk about himself and is instead chatting about random crap. I think his naturally shy nature is apparent in some individual interviews, which can often mistakenly come across as arrogance.

Not sure if anyone can remember but I posted in here around a year ago that I had some sensitive Bale info. The guy told me about Bale wanting to retire but he obviously jumped the gun slightly. Now obviously Bale has again confirmed that he will now play on a little while longer (I imagine until January) but then he will retire. This wasn't my usual source, it was from a golfing circle who said Bale wanted to try and turn pro. No idea how that's going but he was serious about it. Anyway, I imagine he will sign a 6 month contract somewhere and then call it a day after the World Cup.
