I do agree the abuse has gone overboard tbh. I recently saw his congratulating instagram message to Son going to the World Cup peppered with abuse and even a monkey emoji! Which is madness!!

The reality is though his performances do not warrant his continual selection, which is getting people frustrated. I do hope he get's moved on soon, for both parties. As he can't play that RWB role effectively.

But that is up to Conte to decide and is in no way justification for the vitriol he continues to receive. These "fans" need to grow up and not take things so seriously to the point they hurl abuse on a player's social media. That could seriously damage his mental health.

Thing is when you add...."The reality is though his performances do not warrant his continual selection, which is getting people frustrated" to your post it's basically saying there is some justification or explanation for what they are doing.

There isn't!

Don’t agree with the second part of your post. Watch the Leeds game again and then tell me that performance did not warrant his selection.
Plus, whether you or I think a performance warrants his continual selection its got nothing to do with us. Just support the man. It’s not that difficult.

His performances do warrant his selection, which is why Conte is selecting him.

Like it or not, he is the best we have in that position.

So stop justifying the abuse.

All I said is people are frustrated, but the abuse has gone overboard. How that has been twisted I don’t know

Also since when were you not aloud to question your managers decisions. No-one here is about to tell me they never questioned any of Nuno’s tactics

The really disturbing part is that he's... not that bad. Not great, not nearly as good as we need, but just... not that bad.

So the reaction says way more about Spurs fanbase than it does about Emerson Royal.

I mean what the fuck must Conte and the coaching staff think about Spurs fans? He just must think we are utter ****s. Clueless, vindictive, delusional ****s.

Is it the pandemic? Mourinho? Arsenal being top?

It's just so weird.

Conte’s system relies heavily on wingbacks generating chances, and Emerson he has been really poor going forward.

People are doing some mental gymnastics on here to defend him. He’s an RB not a RWB. He’s simply not good enough to be a RWB in a Conte system. It’s painfully obvious and it’s gotten to a point where the majority of fans are frustrated with him. Would I boo him? No. But I understand the frustration.

All of this is known. We all agree. No one is doing "mental gymnastics" to defend him. We all agree with every thing you wrote.

The issue is the completely out of proportion and frankly insane level of the reaction.

If he was lazy, or hiding, or showing petulance or mugging off the crowd or anything remotely unprofessional about his time here at Spurs maybe, just maybe, it would justify jeering him being subbed last week.

But he's done NONE of those things.

It's fucking weird and sad and embarrassing.

There are no mental gymnastics going on, every post I've read agree's he needs upgrading. Just because some of us understand it's not black and white why Conte thinks he's the best we've got right now does not mean we think he's the answer to anything.

And most people are defending Royal the person against way ott reaction, not the performances themselves.

booing one of your own players is NEVER acceptable - end of

I'd say Ndombele absolutely deserved pelters for sauntering off in the Cup game when we were running out of time and desperately needed a goal. That's a rare occasion though and is completely different to what Emerson has been subjected to.

Agreed mate, strongly. Waiting to see how long it takes the Emerson fan club to find this post. Emerson (despite his positive effort levels) is not the player we need, he was signed for a different manager, for a different position. Even though he's got 40+ games for Spurs under his belt as a RWB he's not adapted and learned the role. He's got a lot of mistakes in him, and his skill level is certainly not worth £25m.
Not sure anyone is disagreeing with what you’ve written above. The bit we’re disagreeing with is that the next logical step, for a moronic part of our “supporter” base, is to boo him during games and make him out to be a scapegoat.

You haven't seen the social media comments he gets day in day out have you? He had to turn off comments on his Instagram page because of it. That IS bullying.

The post you're responding to literally says it's fine to criticize his performances as we have all done. It's the chorus of boos when his name is read out, abuse from people in the stands and sarcastic cheers when gets subbed off. How in any way is that "supporting" your club?
It’s not, plain and simple. These are the same toxic ****s that we see in all walks of life, making their way to the Tottenham Stadium once a week. I don’t understand why they’re not all City fans by now.

As I've said the only thing I'd ever boo is an obvious lack of effort.

That was absolutely justified.
