I like his size and physicality.

Nuno set him up to fail today on a debut with make shift backline and going against Zaha. This was tailor made game for Tanganga to play RB against Zaha and Rodon start at CB.

I’m sure Nino had a load of other choices

Did very well in his first game at a hostile away ground, up against one of the trickiest players in the Prem. Then we went down to 10 men but stayed focused

Got done a couple of times by Zaha but he won’t be the first or the last, especially at his age

Good signs, fingers crossed

Solid debut. Defensively looks good. Encouraged by the positions he took up going forward but that midfield 3 did not want to pass to him for some reason.

He had a good game Zaha beat him a couple of times but mostly couldn't, especially when we had eleven men.
Stood up well made some well timed tackles, found space and made some good runs going forward even if he wasn't picked out by his teammates.
Definitely a positive.

I'm a bit worried tbh. Not by Zaha doing him a few times as that's happens, but his pace. There was a moment in the 2nd half where he did get the ball with just the other FB to beat and loads of space and instead of taking him on he passed backwards.

Looked generally slow too. Maybe it's a fitness thing but was hoping he'd at least have that.

He wasn't being left for dead when Zaha was running down the wing, so I don't think he is slow.

I would have like to have seen him create some width down the right, but neither fullbacks got forward much.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were told to sit back so Zaha didn't have as much space to run into.

Unfortunately it meant we had no width and looked a mess further up the pitch

I'm surprised you see the negative ?

He was nowhere near the worst performer, however given the shit that surrounded him, he tried hard defensively but limited offensively, which is no surprise when you have such a static and ineffective midfield trio ahead of you offering fuck all options.

Maybe we should be blaming Doherty for being so poor that Royal had to thrown straight in. Nuno obviously didn’t fancy him up against Zaha.

Rodon should've started, with Tanganga staying at right-back. He was clearly fit enough to do so considering he played eighty minutes without any issues whatsoever.

Another player who will take a while to get used to the Premier League. Yesterday was something of a baptism of fire for him, going up against Zaha from the off.

Many players simply don't appreciate the pace of the premiership. Not just in the physical sense, but also how little time you get on the ball and how quick you need to move it.

But don't expect an immediate impact.

awful management to throw to the wolves against zaha today. left 1v1 and really struggled.
Yep, called it before the game. Said he should have started as RWB with Tanganga behind him as part of a three for defensive support
Nuno got it wrong yesterday

He looked decent. Honestly the only thing that you could push me to critique is a few times he hit it out of play defensively when he might well have had time to control it and keep it in possession. But it was his first game in a badly set up side. He needs development for sure.

Weve been used to Walker and Rose, and then Aurier, and Reguilon, some of the fastest full backs going. It did crack me up when Doherty was being dug out for being slow, think we have an unrealistic expectation of pace. Not every full back is super fast

He’s more than quick enough. Kept up with Zaha on a 1 on 1 run 2nd half.

No way Davies/Doherty or Tripps stop him getting to the byline
