I think the main complaint is we got a very similar offer last week and rejected it. If we'd have sold him then we'd have had a much better chance at getting a much needed replacement.
Do we know for sure that Sanchez was interested in that move? I agree that we should’ve signed a replacement - regardless of when Sanchez was sold. This week or last, makes no difference.

Would've kept Dav around but good luck to him and credit to him for chasing game time elsewhere rather than being happy to see out his contract.

I wish him the best.

As for the other guy though, not so much...

To put that into perspective, €9.5m will cover the remainder of Ndombele's wages for the next 12 months so we've effectively made nothing on the two deals.

Thought we were paying 1m of Ndombele's wages and Galatasaray were picking up the rest.

Nothing but love for Sanchez. Never shirked responsibility or ever gave less than 100% effort. Ultimately, it didn’t work out but he’s been given severely poor treatment from the fan base in comparison to many others who half arsed their way around the club.

Go well Dave.

This feels like 4 months of praying we don’t get an injury to VDV and Romero to me. The 3rd and 4th options are a player that’s not a CB in a back 4 and doesn’t have the pace to play in the high line and an 18 year old. Feels like this could potentially be a real self sabotage. Really hope not!

very sad, this guy had all the attributes to be baller, one of the players this club truly failed..
not sure how the club failed him? he was given numerous appearances, through good and bad periods, he was fast, physical, but terrible on the ball, not something you can teach

In other words, it‘s crap? Or, best we could hope for given the circumstances?

I'm sad about this - yes, Dav had some bad moments, but he is a good footballer in the right system (Poch's or Ange's), good in the air and is quick. I would much rather Dier had gone instead.

Really hope he does well in Turkey. Thanks Big Dav!

I'd love to know if there was something that went down in his personal life or something that hit his confidence, because whilst I'm sure he is going to be remembered as a bit of a joke and a poor signing, what people forget is just how good he was in his first season. I thought we had the next Ledley on our hands:

He was so good after his first season that he earned himself a new six year deal, but it was so sad to see him get progressively worse and worse from the moment he signed it. Every time it seemed like he was improving and starting to fulfil his potential then he'd drop an absolute howler and the fans would get on his back again.

Good luck to him - seemed like a good bloke, although in all honesty I'm glad that I'll never have to watch him play in defence for us again.

Bloody hell did he enjoy going to ground!

So strange what happened to him after an immense first season, would have patches of excellent games and would then drop a stinker. I genuinely thought he would be better than Toby and Jan after that first season.

Good luck to him. He needs a refresh and hopefully he gets back to his best form. I thought he'd end up in Spain and be effective there. But he'll link with ndombele and Zaha at Galatasaray, which could be an interesting watch.

Good business for the club too to draw a line under this.

Fee less than hoped so we didn't report it to save the awkward questions of why we rejected similar bids last week when we could have got a replacement in.
It's incompetence. We got a couple of good deals about 10 years ago and still think we are master negotiators yet we keep making decisions that end up costing the club.
