We don't really need them both off the books this window and it's way too early to say Phillips or Dorrington are ready for this level. I think they're both out of contract next year anyway so whoever is not sold now will be gone next summer. Centre back is a key position and we need senior established players there. It's not like we can bed them in using early European games either.
I've got a lot of time for Sanchez and would happily have him as a back up, but i do think the suggestion of sellig him, Dier and Japhet and potentially leaving Tosin with Philips and Dorrington as cover, is absolutely fine. Just my opinion, but i think far too many fans worry about the worst possible injury outcomes, when there are plenty of CB pairings that'll play every minute together this season. With normal luck, it's fairly unlikely we'd need to use a 4th choice CB in a PL match until the next window comes round (think its 15 PL games until Jan window opens - one a week plus Intentional break).

I do agree that it's highly unlikely we have both VdV and Romero out at the same time. I just don't see the urgency to get both Sanchez and Dier out. Both are professional and neither will disrupt us. So there's really no reason not to keep 1 just in case we need them. That for me makes more sense than throwing a teenager into the deep end. If we don't need them then so be it, no loss. For Dorrington and Phillips we need to find the best solution to help them develop. I imagine a loan makes sense for them both more than a very bit part as a squad player here.

I’d rather give a youngster the time and space to develop than have sanchez step in and under perform

We don't need more than 3 senior CBs with essentially one match a week this year. Would rather get everyone out and play the kids/bring someone in in January if we have injuries.

The question is more about what is best for their development? To stay in the senior squad with possibly the odd few minute cameo but largely U23 games. A loan to a competive league like the Championship or League 1. I guess it depends if there is interest to loan them. Our best success seems to be when we loaned players for a bit (Kane, Skipp, Sarr, Udogie). I think we need to make the most of the loan system if possible.

Davinson Sanchez should not land in L1. Rennes made an offer of 9 M € but did not want to fight with Daniel Levy the president of Tottenham who demanded 15 M € to free the Colombian. Monaco did not want to outbid either.

I’m so confused how Arsenal are selling their deadwood for decent prices. Looks like Rob Holding is looking likely to go to Palace for straight money, no loan.
Sanchez is twice the player Rob Holding is.
