VdV hamstring was down to 1) He’s had some minor issues with this in the past, and 2) lots of players this season are suffering muscle injuries due to long VAR stoppages and added extra time.. NOT A SYSYEM PROBLEM

Madders - bad tackle and a twist. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.

Bentancur - Matty Cash is a psychopath. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.

Solomon - Meniscus tear in training. Just an accident. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.

Perisic - see Solomon.

Lo Celso - missed a few games. Because he’s made of glass. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.

Richy - Injury predated Ange. Down to too much pigeon dancing. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.

Sess - Predates Ange. Predates the jurassic period. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.

Sarr - Missed two games. After being injured on international duty. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.

Johnson - Missed four games due to lack of preseason and was already having some small issues in that department. NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM.

I think there is a group think narrative that might happen if folks keep leaning into this ‘system’ theory. Could be one or two fit into this category. But all I am seeing is awful luck. That unusually coincides with adapting a more aggressive style of play.

I don’t recall a time like this at Spurs. With all these ‘long term’ injuries and to top it off, a window of time we are forced to miss three key players through international tournaments and some really dumb suspensions.

As far as I’m concerned, the business side of our season starts on Feb 10. I expect all those injured back, one or two new players, everyone back from international duty. Ange has more than 14 fit players. That’s about five league games. And one or two cup games. I just hope we are able to hang in the latter. As I know we will sadly be stuck again with a very weak back 4 against Burnley.

Lastly… Romero. Dude. Gotta stop missing 30% of every season through injuries and suspension. Ya killin’ us!!

Ha ha. This is the most unscientific reply to a post about the extra running and dynamic movements the players are doing this season — which includes our current system and the extended time of all matches (because we’re still playing our system within that added time).

Just adding ‘NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM’ at the end of each sentence doesn’t really shine any light on the issues.
Maybe (if you can arsed) you could compile a comparison of running distances from last season to this season - then that might shine some light on where weaknesses in player’s physiology might occur.
And that might warrant “Not a system problem“ as a reply.

But I think everyone can see that all the players are heavily involved throughout the games, in a front foot aggressive manner. And with all these additional minutes - the two combined means there‘s extra strain on a player’s system. And that mounts up.
I’ve got great friends who are S&C specialists in rugby….so Im aware of what extra load can amount to over the course of weeks and months.

And yes, some bad luck is always there.
But, in my opinion, for the way we play, we’re stretched and that extra workload needs to be factored into future strategic decisions in training, rest, S&C and recruitment.

Out of curiosity, why write a hostile response? Like: “if you can be arsed?”. Why resort to using disrespectful language?

And in case you didnt notice, I literally wrote under VdV that it could be down to long stoppages.

anyways, not worth debating with you, as you dont want to discuss without resorting immediately to aspersions.

He played well against Everton. And he came inside to great affect after the three backheels ...and he drove forward and won the free kick

But obviously we struggled second half after a good first half.

Look its not ideal but its the best solution at the moment imo.
He stifled our play so many times when he came inside against Everton when he came inside, it was frustrating especially after hojberg came on, who also does dwell on the ball a bit

He had that dribble but again that dribble shows the difference between him and the others he allowed onana to get level with him instead of pushing to son who was ahead in loads of space

He could of fed Son but was fouled in fairness.

Probably been posted already but this isn’t a good look. CB’s need to be reliable.

2 left footed centrebacks anyone? Can that work?

I am thinking Udogie as a CB! He has all the attributes - pace, power, tackling, height, eye for a pass, etc. Surely he will do better at CB than Emerson? And Emerson will do better at LB than CB?

You can’t be that fragile.
Anyway, I could say your post was equally as disparaging about my previous post talking about the excess running in our system.
To write in CAPITAL letters as if you’re shouting your point - “NOT A SYSTEM PROBLEM“ I found equally disrespectful.
It’s like people who write - ‘end of’ at the end of a sentence.
As if their word is gospel. Case closed. No room for debate.

So take a look in the mirror first before throwing your accusations around.
If you want to debate, then be open to debate. Don’t shout your points and make it sound like your POINTS ARE FINAL.

Yeah in one way it will be worse but if in 5 other ways better than the alternative, it might be worth trying it? I am just throwing it out there
It won’t be better at all. He’ll go Emerson like he did before. Unless we got another 2-3 injuries I don’t think Ange has any intention of using one of the kids and we all know Dier is toast here.

Ange’ll play Skipp at centre back before he uses Phillips or Dorrington
I was joking @pablo73 but I saw comments from Celtic fans saying Ange used the academy sparingly and we’ve seen little to suggest he’s gonna do otherwise here so far.

So, u took a post I made, Not aimed at you and took it personally and felt disrespected? and then accuse me of being fragile? Have I called you any names? Taking personal digs? Don’t think so.

Sorry if my use of caps upset, same as my inference of absolutes.

How you have taken a general post not aimed at you personally and turned into something all about you is a tad unusual, but to each our own. There’s a certain irony to calling me fragile after reading your response.

There is always room for debate. The interpretation you have made is entirely of your own making. I didn’t tell anyone to shut up. Just was making my point, albeit in a way that you didnt like. That’s fair. We all communicate differently.

For more on personal language I’d recommend reading Wittgenstein, if you haven’t already.

Apologies for getting your goat. Have a lovely 2024. Toots.

There were huge debates on here with many many posters saying that "no one is going to come and sit on the bench" and "we only have 1 game a week" and other such guff, as reasons not to buy more than one CB last summer.

Consequently, our chicken have come home to roost.
Got to be honest don't remember too many of those debates, and I certainly don't think there were "many many posters" saying it.

All I can remember were posters saying VDV and Topsoba were unlikely to both come in, but that was more to do with financials than personal numbers.
