This shouldn't annoy me, but after being one of those dopes who bought a Romero 4 shirt in the summer, only to find out he LOVES 17...Now he's wearing 13 for his country. Pffff, that numberwang I guess

Romero is so evidently not fit and struggling. He should be taken off and sent back to us to recover.

At least he was subbed and there will now be question marks about his fitness impacting performances. They don’t care about risking him playing through an injury, but they will care about conceding two against Saudi Arabia

I hope its just lack of fitness after recovering. The 2nd goal he just doesn't look quick at all. I hope it's not that he's playing through injury but just working back.

He should never have started. Awful management
Yeah and Scaloni even said he would revise his selection due to injuries. He obviously didn't do it enough.

If they didn't rush him back he'd have time to recover for the latter stages and Argentina would likely have been fine today.

I feel for him, as no player is ever going to turn down a chance to play for his country on the biggest stage.

but he’s so blatantly not fit, I mean one of the clearest cases of injury in world football in recent years. And it’s not like they lack defensive reinforcements either, Martinez was on the bench.

Awful management and I feel sick for him.

He was clearly injured for the game against United. He's not normally slow with his timing and he was also sitting deeper, which is not his style.

I do wonder of he has been carrying that injury since the beginning of the season. He had a few good performances but from around the Arsenal game he just seems to have been less agressive.

He needs a proper rest

We are going to have to hope Argentina crash out early so he can get back and attain a massive rest before the rest of the season begins

The first goal he got done on looks like what he has been doing for us - not doing what he should, not being in the position he should be in because he saves his energy and his body for what he absolutely has to do. He's not fit.

Perhaps Conte knew what he was doing when he wasn't selecting him for the last month or so ?

More seriously what is his injury because he has been out for some time now and clearly has a way to go before he is match fit.

Funny how everyone blamed him for putting Argentina before Spurs. Now he's clearly not fit enough and the same people are saying he's a poor defender(and wasn't a disaster bar that goal, maybe Argentina should blame their attack and invisible Messi). Complete idiots some Spurs fans.

Was/is Romero that bad?

He’s getting absolute pelters about his performance today, a few even suggesting we’ve been had over in similar fashion to how we did with Lo Celso.

He was brilliant last season but this season the polar opposite.
I sincerely hope it’s because he’s carrying an injury and a drop in confidence.

We need the old Romero back.

Suggest you read back a few pages for context, 4 days ago the Argentinian team were thinking that because of his injury he wasn't in match condition and they might revaluate their squad.

Instead of waiting for a couple of matches they threw him in no doubt thinking it would be an easy game.

Hope he comes home soon to recover properly.
