Just think it's a bit premature to mention as an absentee when we have 2 games still and we could have 1 or 2 back in Jan

Emerson definitely at CB.

He's an experienced defender, has played plenty with the others starting...chemistry is there etc

Has covered at CB before and done well.

And most importantly has some pace for the highline.

Well many teams not just us are getting way more injuries than normal by this point of the season but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that both our main CB’s have done their hammys given how often they have to sprint in this style of play.

Id be interested to know if Ange’s CB’s at his previous clubs also had this issue or not, that way we can work out if it’s bad luck or intensity of the premier league etc.
Think the problem is that the teams that have had as many injuries as us (utd, Newcastle) have European football as well.

That's a minimum of 6 games more than us.

If we'd had those 6 games, I think we'd be struggling to put out a full 11.

He wasn’t great, and caught out of position many times. Madness signing Phillips imho. I rest my case there. Some things makes no feking sense to me

You don't have a case though, because you don't see the lad in training day in day out and he was always a one for the future purchase, to say signing him was madness is just hyperbole.

Each to their own. I know the comments that come out of training, and I am close enough to have the educated opinion to my comments

IMO the Philips signing isn’t the issue, it’s the not buying another first team CB to rotate/cover Romero and VdV. Philips was probably bought as someone to give minutes to here and there, not to cover our best CB for a prolonged period.

2m. He wasn’t signed to be a first team player this season , if ever. Take a punt on a young player, same as Dele Alli.
Dele had played much more football and was already bossing his level tbf.

Repeating old arguments, but do you really want to blood a kid in a position of big responsibility as part of a makeshift emergency defence?

And Brighton will almost certainly target him, so we'll have Sarr, Skipp or PEH trying to cover Porro and Udogie when they go forward, whilst keeping an eye on a Phillips/Davies defence.

Even Real Madrid have had a stack of injuries this season.
Need to get the maximum from the next two games till Son goes.
Both will be good footballing games against two teams who play proper football.
Must admit I was gutted when heard about Romero. Heard it on the car radio. My wife couldn’t understand what all the noise was about.

2nd half against Everton was the same back four against wolves:

Porro
Dier
Davies
Royal

We really struggled 2n half on Saturday.

But this looks a good bit better to me for the next two games anyway:

Porro
Royal
Davies
Udogie

No. I didn’t say that. Sometimes injuries give an opportunity to young players. Miley at Newcastle, Kobi Mainoo of Man Utd have taken their chances.
Quansah at Liverpool at centre back.
I have no doubt that Philips will not be starting on thursday.

The injuries are just ludicrous. Solomon, Perisic, Romero, VDV, Maddison, Bentancur, Sessegnon, Richarlison, Whiteman, Johnson and GLC all missing a significant number of games so far. Insane. That's about half the fucking squad.
