Romero is insane. You all know he was Serie A defender of the season, and he did it in a ultra-attacking and often defensively exposed team. Sturdy base, a really strong leaper and hard to move. He’s not rapid, but not slow either. Aggressive on and off the ball. On the ball, he loves to move forward, but I’m not sure how much of that is Gasperini’s system and how much is his nature. Judging by his Argentina time and Genoa time, it’s probably a bit of both. Very good on the ball though.

Back 3 or 4, he’s great in either. His standout attribute is his defensive instincts and his base and adjustment of positioning. It is truly elite. Right place, right time, all the time. His body shape and positioning in every defensive scenario is fantastic. Great reader of danger and team defender too.

A warrior. Played in the Copa final with leg injections after being almost a certainty to miss out. And was a top performer in the match. Young yet experienced on the big stage. I’d guess roughly 40 mil, but for a player of his profile, he’ll be a bargain if his development continues.

As naturally talented as Lacroix, more talented (and better last season) than Skriniar, and very close talent-wise to Kounde. But as a pure defender he’s at least on par with the Sevilla man. This would basically be the best CB signing we could make when considering cost, potential, ability, youth, and experience. Exciting.

May explain why the Serie A defender of the season would even contemplate signing for us.

Signing this guy could definitely be regarded as a statement of intent and his agreeing to join us would have Spurs firmly in the media spotlight for the rest of the transfer window. Another shrewd move because I'm certain Gollini would love to have a team mate alongside him at the club.
Get it done please.

Its interesting, i guess paratici brought him to juve as well, but then decided to loan him out to atalanta, guess with bonucci, de light, chielini in front of him would find playing time hard.

If Paratici can get this over the line, then a defence directed by Cristian Romero will certainly be an upgrade on last year's effort, which, let's be honest here, looked more as if it were directed by George A Romero.

By the way... this is another example of the ridiculous short comings we had under Levy being in charge of the transfers.

We haven't signed a player from Serie A since Lamela.

Is he better than Dier though?

Ally also saying

Tottenham are keen to tie up a number of moves before the Premier League opener against Man City and there is also expected to be a number of outgoings in N17 as well before that August 15 date.

Next week in particular is expected to be a busy one in the market for the north London club as Paratici aims to get players in and out the door to allow Espirito Santo to have some new faces to work with in the final weeks of pre-season.

Nice to have a football man making transfer decisions and not waiting till the last minute to sign players like Levy always did

let’s hope that it happens we’ve been here so many times before

I will be absolutely livid if we dont get this over the line. He is such an amazing player and would seriously improve us. Also worth noting that I have never seen or read anything about him and didnt know he existed until 10 mins ago.

IF and big IF we sign Romero, reckon we sign another CB?

Or most likely Tomiyasu & Romero?

Yeah, I do. Someone like Kounde, for example, is more of a ball-playing CB while Romero is a defender first, who'll win everything in the air and be putting in big challenges. So think we'll still be after a 'cat' i.e. a Kounde-style defender, to a 'dog' i.e. a Romero-style defender.
