Man, we're so quick to write anyone off based on a tiny sample size. The guy hasn't had a chance to adapt to the speed and physicality of the English game, gets thrown into a derby and asked to replicate what seemingly only our or best player is capable of, and do all this for a team that is woefully out of form. Yet here we are, not good enough already. The bloke hasn't even had a chance.

Drogba in his first season, with a much better team than we have now, looked rubbish. Couldn't trap a bag of cement, couldn't win a ball in the air, couldn't finish with any accuracy, couldn't hold up play, looked clumsy and awkward and slow to react. A year later he was dominating centre half pairings by himself. I'm not saying CV will reach that level, but christ give the bloke a chance.

Yes you are right his not getting enough chances and game time to really judge him but the fact remains that the hope of a permanent move is drifting away with every chance he missed. And for such a big guy he’s surprisingly not very good with his head, this is the second free header from 6 yards that he’s missed.

Yep he hasn’t had enough game time to make a decision on his ability. I did warn when he was teed up to come that he would need time (like janssen wasn’t afforded) to get used to the league as he has only played in a secondary league and (like Janssen) only for a short period of time. Plus in his case he doesn’t speak the language (like janssen did).

So should he be written off - no
Should he get more chances - probably
Do we know if he’s done enough in training to get those chances - no

It is hard to make any judgement on him but he probably should of scored yesterday. Although the excuse is he hasn’t had the game time but he should still hit the target with that header.

That’s just the pressure any striker coming to spurs will have while Kane is still around. You have to hit the ground running and take all the chances that comes your way especially the ones like last night. It’s not fair but just a reality that everyone will face if they decide to come to Spurs.

Vini isn't the problem. Look how often Kane has to drag himself into games and he is one of the worlds best strikers.

Vinicius was Jose's guy and he has handled him so poorly. The same applies to Bale and Dele in my opinion. There is something he doesn't like about these players - no doubt defensive contributions, he noted CVs pressing last night - that he just doesn't have any patience with them at all. They are all confidence players that needed game time.

Brighton he should have started him. It didn't work without him and it would have killed his confidence. Same goes for Bale. He was no worse than Son or Bergwijn on the night and actually scored against Brighton in the reverse fixture. Bale needed the minutes and confidence more. He is capable of more than he's been showing even if he's been far from his best. He just scapegoats these players when he gets the setup wrong.

He has hooked them too many times in cup matches that they needed for their match fitness and confidences.

People said the same at Man Utd and I hoped they were wrong but it has come to fruition again.

Now Kane has got injured it is biting Jose in the arse big time. Every back up attacker we have is devoid of confidence and Son is isolated. I'm pretty sure he's now praying Dele will bail him out against West Brom. I'm not sure how motivated Dele will be to save him right now.

I will give him that he is not afraid of competition as some strikers would not join because of lack of game time. He needs more minutes to show what he can do. Even though he is tall he is not a target man. He is not great with his back towards goal. So sending high balls up the pich is not going to be affective. Jose should have put him on in games and taken Kane off more often as he was allways going to get injured this season. Now we have a striker that we need to play (not because he is our only option) because it will benefit the team long term.

He's been badly managed since he came here. There have been loads of opportunities when he could have been given minutes but he's now been pitched into a pretty desperate situation where the whole team is playing like shit. He was completely alone for most of the game last night, but he fought hard and tried to hold the ball up. He missed 1 chance (no worse that what Kane and Son have missed recently), and people want to bin him off. We won't be paying 40m for him (never were), but FFS give the bloke a chance - everybody else has and have all failed to various degrees. He did a lot more than Son did last night IMO.

Needs to be a bit more cute with his application, he keeps making it easy for officials to penalise him for aerial challenges as he’s making it too obvious that he’s looking at the opponent and not the ball.
He should’ve done better with the late chance but I don’t think heading is is best attribute (I know - surprising due to his size).

He needs time and should definitely be seeing more minutes. Maybe him and Harry up top with Son on the wing to give us a bit more forward thinking purpose and occupy opposition defenders more?

two points - why on earth didn't Bale start up top instead? Would rather have Parrott back in this role next season

Some of you are so unreasonable. No one is playing well. Players or manager, it doesn't matter. They all collectively are in poor form so it can't be a surprise that a player taking a huge step up in competition is struggling, right?!

I won't go as far as saying I like the player but I think he is ok - tough act to follow
also not being handled well by The Used To Be Special One

I posted this on another site a few weeks ago.

He was a centre back up until the age of 20 so he’s had almost 6 years playing as a striker and in which time he’s scored:

Real SC (loan) - 3rd division - 20 in 38 games
Napoli (£4m) - Serie A - didn’t play, loaned out
Rio Ave (loan) - top flight - 14 in 20 games
Monaco (loan) - top flight - 2 in 16 games
Benfica (£15m) - top flight - 24 in 49 games

He’s in effect had 1 season in a decent team and scored 24 goals and created 13 assists for a team who finished 2nd in the league and is expected to slaughter everyone barring Porto.

It’s one thing holding the ball up and bullying defenders in Portugal and another in the EPL.

Come the summer he will be 26, still only had 1 full season in top flight football and we’re expected to pay £50m for him?
