I get that he doesn't want to go as he finally feels settled particularly as he's been loaned out but in the end if he gets a permanent move he'll soon be able settle down properly.

He knows he isn't a key part of the long term plans so I'm sure with some gentle encouragement he can be persuaded to leave. He just isn't good enough I'm afraid to be part of our longer term plans, hopefully he realises that and can get his move over the next couple of weeks.

Reading the thread and the criticism of Bryan Gil as a winger and being too lightweight, it sounds like a lot of people now see him as I do - a tricky number 10. I don’t think Ange will do it but we could start him there in the FA Cup against City before Maddison comes back for a twenty minute cameo.

Hopefully he does realise this. I still think there is a player there, just not one for us or the premier league unfortunately. Needs to go back abroad where he is more suited.

I wonder if one of the interested parties looking to take on Gil permanently is still Feyenoord and a possible precursor to a Gimenez transfer.

I like Gil. I personally just see 'something' with him. I think he has far more technical ability than Brennan Johnson for example but that's just my onions.

I think he'll go on to have a decent career.
Perhaps, but Brennan suits the system so much more.

Gil is not decisive or good enough in the final third nor can he dominate 1 on 1.

The thing with Gil, I don't think he's built to be a winger in our system, he's much more a playmaker and in a Spanish team he'd be fine on the left or right over there, where they value that sort of possession player.

I just can't see where he fits in our team. Like Dier, Hoijberg and Emerson they don't really fit the system. Nothing against the lad, he may improve but even if he does, I can't see him getting too many minutes.

Bernardo Silva is a great example, a wonderful player. Where would he play in an Ange team? I don't think he'd suit the 8 and he's not going to get in on the wing either. Maybe as a number 10.

Just doesn't fit the system for me, nothing against the lad.

Bernardo Silva would for sure fit into Ange even on the right wing absoutely world class player who can play in any system.

If you're scouting for a player and pick Silva for right wing in an Ange system then you are not doing you're job correctly.

Could he do well at spurs, yes of course world class players will always do well, but would he suit what Ange is trying to do?

I don't think so.

Anyway Gil is nowhere near the player that Silva Is, but just a point about systems.

We only have the City game and then the Brentford game is on deadline day so not sure it matters. He would need to be at least close to a move around the City game anyway.

Chatting on my WhatsApp to my Sporting Gijon supporting mates ( long story), they said there was a lot in the northern Spain papers about Real Sociedad wanting Gil last week but it’s gone a bit quiet. They think if he moves it’ll be back to Sevilla.

This would be a great loan for him if true.

Fingers crossed he will actually get some consistent game time.

If they are going to give him proper game time then that would be an excellent loan for him. Would probably watch them semi regularly for the reminder of the season.

I would also assume that there will be an option to buy in there somewhere.

Either way, he needs to go out and play somewhere consistently.

I like the idea of this, but in reality how much game time will he actually get? They have march, fati, adringa and mitoma as wingers. Albeit all of them are injured, but are they long term injuries?

Shame it hasn't worked out here. He's a good player and will have a fine career. Just not with us.

This is one I feel Paratici got wrong. He’s had a lot more hits than misses so I’ll allow him this one.
