Probably Perisic's final season with us. Both Bryan and Sessegnon will have this year to convince Ange they're his long term replacement.

Yeah as much as I like Perisic, one would almost hope that Bryan could develop and become an option off the left for our future planning.

I wonder if Sessegnon is now considered as LB or LW though
I don't think he's good enough, even when fit. I know he's still young, but I've seen little to no progress in his development.

Some will argue that's due to injuries, but that itself is reason enough. You sadly can't count on him being fit.

If anything, he seems to have bulked up, possibly in the expectation that he'd have to be come more physically resilient to play the role that Conte expected of him. Now, he seems to be in danger of falling between two stools, i.e. losing the pace that made him such a threat as a youngster, whilst still not being a good enough defender to play Ange's system.

Solomon and Perisic on left, Kulu and Johnson on right. I’m struggling to see where Gil fits in other than injury cover.
Perisic won’t be here next season, and Solomon still has a lot to prove. So it is well worth taking a look at Gil.

Hopefully his latest surgery can rectify the issue and he can find some consistency again, even if his career doesn't continue at Spurs. Feel like he's in danger of having the same problems as Sturridge where he ended up just not trusting his body even when he was supposed to be fit.

Guys, Gil is good. You can see that he has it, I have high hopes for him.

He was under Conte for fuck sake! Look at Bissouma? Yano?

I think he could finish the season as our LW. People mentioning him in the same sentence as Sessegnon, give your heads a wobble!

Yeah people forget that when he’s had a chance to show what he can do, he’s done well. This was only 8 months ago where he was hugely influential against Palace.

He is good, he is incredibly talented.

The question mark is over whether he is suited to the Premier League, nothing to do with ability.

He has yet to show he can cut it in England.

I sincerely hope he does, but it's looking right now he won't. I hope he proves me wrong, cos there is a bloody good player there.

Hope you’re right, didn’t pull up any trees at Sevilla on loan and seemed to go from regular starter to bench as loan progressed. Still young and hopefully consistency will come.

He was a starter in the final of the Europa League after being instrumental in getting them there in the semi’s. Sevilla were in a crazy mess last season, they sacked Sampaoli in March as they were just two points above the relegation zone. The fact they won the EL is absolutely nuts and they had no right to really. Considering the situation at the club a young loan player was never going to be a major part of the team. Saying Gil didn’t “pull up any trees” is crazy to me personally when taking into consideration where Sevilla were as a club last season and watching them in the league. They were really not good at all. Given the circumstances it was never going to be an ideal environment to shine in.

Thats not to say there aren’t many questions around Gil, there are and I’d think it’s probably more then likely he ends up being moved on. But I’d say that given the situation at Sevilla he actually did as well as could be expected really and I certainly wouldn’t hold it against him.

As far as skill set goes I still think he’d suit Ange really well but it really depends if he can muscle (and yes he needs to bulk up also) his way into contention. I really hope he is given a proper shot as imo he never really has here.

I’ve seen way more from Gil than Sessegnon that suggests he could be worth persevering with. Sessegnon has chipped in with a couple of goals but that is really all he has done here. Gil looks like he has something waiting to to come out. We can’t wait for it forever though. I totally trust Ange’s judgment on him.

Agreed. Hard to see Sess playing a role under Ange. He has been devastated by injuries for three years. And when he does play, he is understandably tentative. He may get better, but it makes more sense for him to do that elsewhere.

Whereas Gil has shown glimpses of great potential. He’s gotten a bit bigger and if he returns with a point to prove, he has also shown tenacity, above average technique, and willingness to run hard. Two tendencies Ange values. Just hope he applies himself.

I’m think they both have a chance actually. If perisic goes in jan there may be space for gill as lw backup.

sess could work well as an under lapping full back given he was always better at scoring goals than crossing. He’s also athletic enough to get up and down. I’d say it’s between him and Davies ton he sold next summer

Sadly an Ivan Perisic sized hole has now opened up on the bench when he gets back. Very different playing styles of course, but we now need him to start contributing to the squad.

Hopefully he's been able to work on his body strength during his recent rehab period.

Hopefully he’ll be back in full training imminently. He will probably still be 3rd choice behind Son (with Richy at CF) and Solomon but now is his chance.

Sell Gil and we might be #1.
