He's hardly a sniff though, I'd much prefer him to go the Sessegnon route and go out on loan, come back more confident and start to feature next season.
But he did that last season? He’s too small for the prem and he’s just not going to really play, he also doesn’t suit our system or how we want to play.
If conte is in for the long haul then he’s the exact kind of player we need to move on. Square peg in a round hole.
If we can bring in a player who suits the system and prem then we should sell to fund that move

Agreed. The reason why he hasn't had a sniff under Conte (and barely did anything for Nuno) is because he's clearly not up to it. The manager does train with these players every day. It's not like he's a mystery and Conte isn't playing him for some other weird reason.
For me, it's a miss from Paratici--espcially as we had to lose Lamela for the deal to happen--but no one is perfect and Romero et al more than make up for it. If we can get our money back, I think we should move on.

There are plenty of players his size who do well though. I think the main issue is that he needs to play as a winger which we don't play with under Conte.
I still think peak Lennon would do well in the league provided he played in a team with wingers. I feel the same about Gil.
Conte teams are just more physical is all.

Get the sense both Gil and Reg will be out the door by this time next week. Question will be whether or not it will be as a loan or buy. In Gil's case, I'd be tempted to sell, with a buy back clause, heavily in our favor plus a sell-on fee of 30%. Making the purchase cheaper for Valencia. EG: 10M euros.
If, Gil lights it up, and someone comes along offering 40M pounds three years later, we make some decent money.
Regardless of how the deal is structured, it is clear that as long as Conte is at the club, Gil will not get a sniff.
