Baffled by posts in here, our forwards are a problem area for us.

Ange repeatedly says this and this match the probs were clear. Timo showed a glimmer of hope and Richie worked hard. That's it imo.
Not sure why this gets a disagree tbh.

pretty factual assessment and one our manager agrees with and says himself.

I’m glad he said he’s not been at his best.

That takes courage and it’s honest. Good attributes.

Because he did good tonight. And to call the positivity baffling after a positive evening is... well, quite baffling.

Starts against Everton for me
Not sure. I would not be opposed to a few more games from the bench.

First, I think he is much better running at tired legs, and second, I think the motivation to go out and prove yourself is there when a starting spot is not handed to you quite so easily.

I love that we have this option though. Tonight he showed a level of confidence and fire that I had not seen in a couple of games.

🚨Brennan Johnson:

🗣️”The manager said once we scored one, we will score two and three.”

🗣️“There’s no secret that recently I haven’t been at my best.”

🗣️”I think in those situations I haven’t been in the right positions so I made sure I had to be.”

These last two lines from Johnson speak volumes to me - this is a lad who has been coached, and has taken that coaching on-board. This reads like Ange and the coaches have shown him different moments where he was not attacking the right spaces - and Johnson is learning from that - and making that run to the far post to meet the ball from Werner.

His a good lad and hopefully the goal will help!

Against city he tried something and it didn’t come off the crowd cheered him for having a go!

if we we back him, sing his name, cheer and support him, I am sure he will have a far better chance of success
This is way I get so irritated when people say stuff like "Johnson isnt good enough" etc.

Get behind them and show them some encouragement, you never know it may be what they need.

Also I think it's a progression which a young player can enjoy

I cant be moaning at our forwards when we’ve been missing Sonny but still boast the 3rd best attack in the league behind Liverpool and City.

Clearly last night the issue was our defence.

A team with forward issues would be Man Utd

24 goals compared to our 47

Anyway Brennan was great last night and his final run should have been the nail in the coffin for Norgaard who blatantly took him out.

Thought he did great yesterday. It'll give him much-need confidence going forward. He's showing what he can give to the team when he plays with conviction and self-belief. Great run to get on the end of Werner's cross for the goal. He burned Norgaard with his turn of pace at the end, and that was a second yellow card all day to everyone but the ref.

Given the way we play I think it's quite hard to meaningfully compare goals for and against with other teams. The whole approach means that I expect us to both score and concede more than teams of similar ability who play more cautiously.

I think as he has said there he hasn't performed at the level he would like. I think he's one that benefited from a break and coming on as sub.

I think everyone here wants him to make it and it was great to see him on the score sheet. Seems like the sort of player that will be his own biggest critic for better or worse. He'll benefit from the coaching and hopefully we take care of his mental conditioning to make him an elite player for us.

I think we had a big issue at the start of the season with our lack of forwards, but bringing in Solomon/Werner/Johnson has meant we now have 6 in the group.
We have also scored the 3rd highest number of goals in the Prem so our issues are not really scoring goals.

I agree it might be an area that can be improved but I don't see it as a 'problem area' anymore.

He touched the ball 20 times today and gave it away 9 times. He's just not ready yet.

He's got pace, can finish (based on YT videos) and is still young, so there is something to work with. His pace means he can be a good sub, as there is nothing worse for tired defenders than fast attackers coming off the bench. But he shouldn't be starting for us as this stage in his career.

Treats the ball like a hot potato too much currently.

Was on his heels constantly and the few times he did receive the ball he tried an instant flick and gave it away, instead of absorbing pressure, taking touches, drawing his fullback on to him etc. He just wants to run in behind and away from the ball.

You simply can’t control games when you’ve got 2 wide players who are so limited on the ball.
