Think people should take the time and watch/listen to that interview. He's a good lad with a sensible head on his shoulders.

It really annoys me how much some fans are getting on the case of Johnson already. He’s young and clearly has potential, but guess what, he’s going to make mistakes!

Back in the day I remember a young lad called Bale, he had a far worst start at Spurs than Brennan and guess what, he turned out to be pretty good player in the end!

How about we get behind him and support him rather than trying to destroy him! COYS

I don't see masses of people getting on his back. I've seen people say theyd like to see more from him and think he is capable of giving more.

There's a fine line between slagging a player off and commenting on what you'd like to see from him.

Personally I think he has more in the tank than we've seen. He lacks concentration defensively at times and lacks a bit of aggression. Do I think that will come with confidence and once he's fully settled, yes I do. Is it ok to raise that right now, I think it is.

I never understand the need to tell everyone that one of your players is shit.

Is it cause they want to be seen as correct.

Like anything, the best way is to always be restrained with evaluations because whilst people won't turn around and credit you for getting an evaluation right, they won't laugh at you for writing a player off.

Suppose we live in an era of having to be first rather than correct though.

The human brain likes to be right. When you drop your piece of toast and it lands jam side down, the brain goes 'I knew that would happen'. The temptation to show off in public is very strong for some, especially when the only consequence of being wrong is to retreat back into the hedge, Homer Simpson style, for a little while and then come back out all guns blazing when the heat has died down a bit.

It depends where you look, he has come in for lots of criticism and abuse on social media sites such as X and Insta.

I agree fans can comment and state what they wish he was doing better, but outright abuse and slagging him off just isn’t needed and certainly isn’t going to help his progression, in my honest opinion.

It just feels like a certain section of the fanbase love to have a scapegoat, Dier has gone, Emerson has improved so welcome to the role Brennan!

I don't go on twitter it's full of racists. On here most have been fair from what I've seen.

It’s definitely a mental issue.

Let’s see if Ange can fix it.

Don't overlook the fitness aspect either.

He didn't have a pre-season with the team and also got injured in his first couple appearances.

I think we'll see the best of him next season but he can't still be an effective player for us this season.

My expectation was him coming on for 20 or 30 minutes at the end of games for Kulu to inject some pace against tired defenders.
Then after a season of settling starting a few games as he developed in the system.

I thought he looked very useful in this role earlier in the season.
Injuries have forced Ange's hand into starting him much earlier than I would have expected so I see little value on judging him in those performances.
Let's see what he's offering around this time next season before worrying about him as a starter.

Yep. I do fear it’s the way of things now everyone expecting everything now with little patience. Meanwhile loads of people wanting players like Nusa who I’m guessing would be on his back should he come and not perform. I think he can offer a fair bit but it’s going to take time and patience.

I think it's past the point he should be on the bench as an impact sub for a few weeks at least. Not faulting the effort tonight but he is taking too long to make his mind up what to do with the ball and it inevitably wastes opportunities to attack

He should be a rotation option till he shows his worth.

Were it up to me, this summer I’d sell Rich and get a top striker. Sell Lo Celso and get a top RW, move Kulu to rotate with Madders. Swap Højbjerg for whoever the scouting team wants.

Then I feel like we’d be in business.

Look, the young lad has a bit to learn and needs to settle. I think he's got ample skill and ability but needs to learn how to use it with confidence.

He should be an option off the bench and isn't a starter YET for me with a full squad, but some of the comments about him in here, writing him off already and a lot worse are quite frankly, stupid, disrespectful and downright wrong and embarrassing.

And anyone who disagrees with me can fuck off.

That’s true. He doesn’t look fit at all.
