He needs a spell out of the side, coming on as sub against tired legs. Nowhere near earning his shirt at the moment. He looks like he doesn't believe he's good enough to play for us. Now Werner is here and Madders comes back he presumably will be dropped.

  • Do I think Johnson could do better, Yes.
  • Has he had the large immediate impact that some players have had upon joining, No.
  • Does he have a future for us, Yes.
  • Has he shown qualities the manager wants, and can the manager trust him, Yes

1 goal and 4 assists, (in 15 PL games) at a new club, in a new system, in a team in transition, with a new manager in the first half of a season is great imo, but he does have headroom to improve.

Get behind the lad, it's all too easy to bash him as club expectations are increasing again.

Swapping him for Kulusevski is fine but then you’ll see us playing in front of teams more, very little threat in behind and a lot of narrow play in the final third with Son/Wener coming inside as well.

his final ball was poor today, but wan Bissaka is hard to get away from. He’s shown he’s got movement to get in behind and pick players out, just didn’t happen today. With Bisoumma, Maddison and Son back his end product will improve imo

you can’t just take him out replace him with someone who might do better in a position they probably wouldn’t of go into the first place.

Young, decent and has potential.

Fact is, if we hadn't had thr mass amount of injuries he wouldn't have played so much, he is still developing truth be told.

Little bit sharper for me, and of course work on that delivery.

I was expecting more pace though, and maybe the price tag hasn't helped him too much with expectations etc but I'm sure he will continue to work hard and Improve himself

A very poor game. Seemed to lack all confidence suddenly today

Needs a lot of coaching and needs to believe in himself more.

If that happens he will be a very useful asset in the squad and will become a good player. I don’t think he will ever become a truly elite player because he’s way too straight line and rigid in his play and doesn’t have enough fluidity, agility or technical ability.

We have overpaid for sure and there were better options out there available for much less money who have a lot more ability and potential. Of the likes of Vic, VdV, Destiny, Maddison etc he’s easily the ‘worst’ of the signings and a clear level below those guys but he can still be good for us.

I think the situation is made worse because we paid so much for him and because our defence and midfield look absolutely elite where as our attack looks pretty average in comparison. He’s obviously a component in that attack.

Wasn't his best game but he tries to make things happen. He's no playmaker, we need to get him a bit more central into more dangerous areas.

He's got time to put it together.

we should have gone for Gordon with the (unhelpful benefit of hindsight)

let’s judge him on next year. He just looks unready this year. Capable of moments, that suggests he has the talent, but it’s a similar story every game.

Likely better with Madderson and Deki in the side to be fair, but without the players to put him into dangerous areas, he doesn’t have the capacity to create danger by himself

As reported at the time we overpaid because the premium on homegrown players is going to increase even further in the future. We needed one now and he was it. Chances are he'll either work out or we can flip him for break even or a small profit in a couple of years.

He is similar to Jermaine Jenas.

Both are well mannered, nice looking lads from Nottingham, but got criticised for a lack of killer instinct and failing to reach their potential.
Jenas I supported and loved for so so long
I gave him so much support (at the lane) and then it was untenable. The end (sorry I can’t remember who against£
) but we were suddenly attacking, jenas got the ball on the halfway line with 2 defenders and 3 attackers and seriously no one near him
What does jenas do, he passes the ball slightly behind our fullback
And we were on back foot and the opposition were suddenly all back in defence

He’s 22, 23 in May, chill out people.

Once we have everyone back Kulu will start RW and Johnson will be a very useful asset off the bench who will only improve with age and experience.

Far from his best game.
Especially as wan-bissaka was booked early on
Brennan should have given wan-bissaka serious problems but never did

wasn't it said that johnson was pushed for by ange?

i love ange but if johnson and gallagher for 100m are what he's coming up with, i'd rather he stuck to what he's good at(coaching) and left the signings to fabio.

The thing is every manager can get signings wrong. Even if they have great player ID overall they will still get some wrong.

So far Ange has been fantastic signing off on Vic, VdV and Maddison.

I do feel like our attack really stands out at the moment as being a level below our midfield and defence, even when everyone is fully fit. We will still score a lot of goals and create chances imo because Ange coaching is unreal and we’ve got a phenomenal defence and midfield. But we definitely don’t have the same level of quality or rounded skills in attack compared to the other two areas.

Yeah far from his best today.

But honestly, tough fucking crowd in here.

He's young and its still very early into his Spurs career.

Give him time to develop under Ange before writing him off.
