I think it’s because he is a very poor finisher
Totally. The game we play is about scoring goals, the cost of that being we leave ourselves open.

He missed an absolutely golden chance. Imagine if that was in a bigger game where we had fewer chances? Could be really costly. Needs to improve in many ways.

Rightly in the team. Rightly getting credit. Rightly being given time. But also rightly getting some criticism for parts of his game that need to improve.

Problem is he has missed a bunch of big chances in big games, arsenal, villa, West Ham, Chelsea. All games we lost/drew

Minus injuries to the squad I think he would have been eased in a lot more. More sub appearances in games and bringing him into the team gradually. He’s being asked to start games and make an instant impact. It’s a big step up for a young player who was only playing Championship football a couple of seasons back. Plus it’s a new system for all of the players to still learn and he didn’t get the benefit of the preseason with Ange.

I’ve seen enough to tell there is a player there and as his confidence grows he will shine.

People do realise he played wih protection on his head right? And after what happened at Forest he was probably anxious for any contact.

Swear some just want to go straight to the negatives. His assist for Richarlison was perfectly weighted and positioned.

He is getting in the box and making the runs. As long as he is always in the positions to miss, I prefer that over not busting a gut to get in the box whatsoever.

He is still young and barely had a full 90 for us since joining, yet he has racked up assists and a goal. Give the lad a break.

Agree. He has some settling in to do but any player who offers goals and assists is always useful.

Maybe I’m not remembering but don’t recall any big chances in the West Ham and Chelsea games. One big chance against Villa when he did well to control the ball on the run for 1 v 1. Arsenal a couple of half chances and we scored directly from one of those. Don’t feel like he’s missing great chances on a bigger ratio than anyone else

I think he’s doing ok and one big positive is that he seems to get involved in big moments in terms of chance creation, even if he spends large parts of the game not involved.

I think with Johnson it’s about teaching him how to best utilise his lightning pace and getting him to have a bit more self belief and aggression in the way he attacks opponents. At the moment he has a bit of the Sessegnon about him, a little timid. However unlike Sessegnon, he has elite tier pace and more raw attributes to work with imo.

He is never going to be the 1v1 specialist winger we need on at least one of the flanks but he can complement our attack nicely with his lightning pace and direct running. We’ve already seen some great examples of how effective he can be, it’s just about getting him to be more involved in games and learning how to be more aggressive in using his skills. He needs to take on his man with pure speed more often for example.

He is only 22 years old, plenty of room for growth and the raw skills are there. I trust Ange will improve him significantly.

If we had a 1v1 specialist on the opposite flank to him I could see that really helping him and it would create space.

I would say it was a bigger move for Udogie, Sarr (both younger) and Van de Ven (same age),
You're probably right there but I think personality wise, they have a bit more swagger and confidence. Brennan seems like quite a shy lad and while it's obviously just me guessing, I reckon the move weighs heaviest on his shoulders.

It’s like people on here didn’t clock that the geezer was wearing a Wu hoodie the other day. Leave him alone.

I know, but when you consider Son's offside against Chelsea...

The goal he scored against SU....and hitting wood work couple of times against Newcastle...

....it really could of been a lot more
If my aunt had bollocks and all that

Not sure what people are expecting from him tbh.

Why don't we give him til the end of the season before pulling him to pieces

exactly this. ppl forget how poor bale was and how many on here thought between him & walcott that we got the worse deal. Confidence is a huge thing for a young player. He left his boyhood club, joined us & got injured a couple of times already. Patience - we write off players too easily (heck, many did the same for Vicario & see how that's turned out so far). Brennan will be fine & once he hits his straps, we have some player on our hands

He’s going to need another season after this one before we really start to see what he’s capable of. Still very raw and maybe a little lacking technically but aside from his pace he seems to have very good spatial awareness and has got into some very good positions. I’m not sure if RW will be his best position long term and not every game will suit his skill set but ether way he is already an asset. Personally I think we just need to let him continue to develop and not put too much pressure on the lad.

We won't know his real quality until next season.

Seems to have all the physical attributes but mentally looks a bit immature.

What is certainly clear is that he's not as fit as he needs to be for Ange's system yet.

Spot on, his not fully fit!

he needs a run of games to get fully fit and his confidence, then we can judge him.

his had injuries, moved club, let’s give him time and love!

his going to improve, and I can’t see him not becoming a good player. not sure if he will be a world beater, but his very young, quick and has talent. Im
Sure in a couple of years we will look back as a good value signing!

Son, Ivan, Maddison, Ange so many ppl around to improve him.
