Just caught up on all the information available and seeing people frame it one way or another and yet it's still the same as it was yesterday; nobody knows for certain who is driving the deal, nobody knows if Ange wants him vs Ange is accepting what is given. If you think Ange will answer in a way that will give you a definitive answer then you're ignoring that Ange may possibly cater his answer in relation to trying to protect a player.

Personally I don't see a situation where the name our manager put forward first to fill the hole we have was Brennan Johnson, that's just my opinion. I think it's perfectly reasonable to have concerns about a structural approach to recruitment, whether that's that Ange works with what he is given and Paratici and the Scouting team make the choices, whether they put forward things and he approves them or he leads with his demands and the rest of the structure work toward his specific requirements. So long as it's structured and agreed upon, anything that circumvents the process should be a cause for concern, whether it yields a great signing from time to time or not.

It's not unreasonable to be concerned, it's not unfounded given past events, it is unreasonable to think we know with any degree of certainty no matter which side of the debate you land. Thinking that Ali Gold saying he understands that Ange wants Johnson is as good as certainty is not good evidence to go on either.

It's a waste of time trying to argue one way or another, what's more important for us is; Is he who we are getting, What signs do we have that he can be the difference we need?

Brennan Johnson for Cash + Sanchez just doesn't make sense to me. Sanchez is really our 3rd CB, and he's certainly serviceable when paired with a competent CB not named Eric Dier.

If Sanchez goes as part of the deal, would be completely negligent not to have a replacement lined up. I can't see them throwing Postecoglou under the bus like that but you never know. If it weren't for Sanchez's contract situation, think he may have ended up staying but rather than lose him for free next summer, if we can use him in a deal for Brennan, it makes sense provided we replace him. No way can we be left with the likes of Dier and Tanganga as backup.

While I agree I think it's likely we get a CB this week somehow/someway that will likely go to 3rd on the depth chart. Sanchez, Dier, and Tanganga remain.

From the sounds of it, Dier seems unlikely to leave because he simply doesn't want to. So at that point, if you're able to cash in on your now 4th choice CB, who has 1 year left on his deal. Dier leaves on a free after this year, so be it. Plus hopefully something can be sorted with Tanganga.

Johnson's price can maybe come down a bit as well, so 2 birds with 1 stone scenario happening.

I think its more a matter of if there's an offer for him we will sell. It also seems there may be interest in Dier too though. I'm sure it will just be a case of whichever we get the better offer for is sold. Besides Sanchez may want out.

I think there's going to be alot of moving parts in deals this week. Sanchez plus cash for Johnson.

If there's any truth to Tosin, then Dier or Regi or even both if we are lucky to go to Fulham, if not then it's possible be go for Palinha as ITK suggested but that would also depend on PEH leaving as well.

Spence to join up Rodon at Leeds on loan.

Lloris to potentially get his contract terminated on mutual agreement.

Ndombele out on loan to anyone that breathes.

That's 6 potential outs, with 2 potential HG players in 2 positions which we need players. We trim the squad down but have a better balance squad.

All that would be missing is an actual CF, but if Ange is happy with Richy and Son, then I think that may be it for the rest of the window.

Brentford applying pressure maybe best thing that can happen here. Force Levy into concluding a deal quicker. Would be a big black eye if Brentford pay the money and we won’t for our manager’s top target.

Johnson would have to want to go to Brentford. I can see that being a sticking point.

I don’t think we will lose him to Brentford, but what could happen is Brentford agree the fee which would set the mark we have to reach for an agreement as well.

Still depends if Johnson would go there though. If he refuses it puts Forest between a rock and a hard place.

I think 50m would be better spent on Bryan Mbeumo.

Home grown is a key reason Johnson is up the list.

I rate Mbeumo, but with 50m, and without home grown restrictions, our market is huge, and there's probably better value out there.

Whether it's this guy or Fati on loan we end up getting they're both very talented with reservations of course but Ange-approved and I think we can all get behind that.
