Would be interesting to see him as a CF. I guess none of us really know if he'd be good enough back to goal to play as a striker. I suspect not compared to a player like David, or Lautaro.

I think he'd be decent under Ange to be honest. But we simply cannot stockpile bench level wingers, especially foreign ones. If we're bringing someone in, i'd rather they be really pushing Son, Kulusevski and Richarlison.
I do partially agree re Gil but I think he still deserves a shot. We have already spent the money so why not see if he could actually turn into something special. He was very highly rated in Spain before we bought him and stuck him on the bench for two half seasons. In terms of his skill set he had very high dribbling stats from what I remember before we bought him. Yes he may never been what we want but I think it would be good to know for sure first.

He’s HG right? If we can ship one or two deadwood to them and get the price lower, we could do worse... HG strikers are nonexistent.

Is this a "homegrown purchase"? Not sure he would be infront of Solomon for the "next in line" spot after Kulu and Son.
Atleast not fro mthe little i have seen of him.
True.. makes you wonder whether Ange sees Kulu in a more central role later down the line rather than a winger.

Yea agree mate, however if we signed Johnson, Orban(or an RW) and Schurrs that would be absolutely class but then again without European football it might be slightly overkill.

Have to agree with this. Transfermarkt profile lists him as an attacking midfielder, however has him starting 14 games at CF and 11 at RWF season 22/23. If he’s being bought in as direct competition for Deki, with Soloman being utilised more coming in off the left as he did for Fulham (Soloman has historically played more on the left), and yet still bringing in someone like Orban as a CF project, I could definitely see the positives. Orban for me has that bit more x-factor with his ability to find space and his explosive finishing, or at least appears to have. Ideal for Ange’s system. Johnson’s strength seems more to be his ability to carry the ball at pace.
Can also see the sense if we can get the price down with some part ex.

This could make some sense with Lo Celso rumoured to be unsettled again.

Going in big on this guy whilst Brentford are trying to snap up a miles better player in Nico Gonzalez
This is a really simplistic way of looking at data without context and the deeper dive stats that clubs have at their fingertips. As others have already said, when you play for a team who average not much more than a third of possession, your per 90 attacking stats are going to suffer big time.

Would it be fair to say that our club's analysts have a significantly better insight into a player's ability/effectiveness/potential than we do by looking at a handful of side-by-side stats on a public website?

I think the £50m is the Chelsea price personally. But now Chelsea have said no, Forest will go for the realistic price.

I hope we sign him. Young , fast exciting player who has proven he can play in the Premier League at only 22. Would love to see what he can do playing in a much better side.

The raw volume of dribbles is certainly affected by a team's tactics, but take-on success rate is not. FBRef had his take-on success rate down as 35.6%, substantially lower than what you've quoted and good for the 11th percentile rather than the 38th percentile. At best, he's still significantly below average in that regard.

I'm not convinced by him as a winger in Ange's setup.
True but where are those take ons taking place?

What if he struggles with some take ons cause he is often in static situations is up against 2 players or during an offensive phase he has no support so tries to take it alone?

Playing with better players, and and front foot system, means he will face more favourable situations as movement and danger of others will give him more space.

I went and looked at a forest forum. They seem to rate him very highly and don't want him to leave.

They also think serge is off to Saudi Arabia
