Villarreal CF and Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement for the loan of Arnaut Danjuma. The Dutch forward will play for the London club until the end of the current 2022/23 season. The loan agreement includes a purchase option.

Really pleased there is a buy option and generally really like this signing as a player because he’s great 1v1 and he’s a proper bums off seats ? player which the crowd deserve after being bored senseless for the majority of the last 3 seasons.

Some of our planned purchases have been terrible. Dek wasn't first choice we wanted Diaz. And many more Who knows. Son Is so out of form were playing with ten men.

Don't really see how the principle of the signing is relevant tbh. He'll either be good or he won't. If Roma have started adding clauses to Zaniolo as rumoured, it's OK to walk away. Worth remembering that we got Kulusevski after we missed out on Diaz, so was the principle of that deal a problem?

I don't think we initiated the breakdown of the Everton deal, that was pretty clearly the sacking of lampard, their board couldn't even get the timing of that right, if they'd waited a day he'd be wearing blue this weekend.
I guess we gave him the option that satisfied Villa Real too so good for us.

I was listening to The Atheltic and it seems from reports it was the Lampard sacking. He was up for it, they sacked Lamps and he didn't want to go to a club that had no manager, had no idea if he would play now and are in a relegation scrap.

Nice bit of work i think, gives us even more options to rotate or bring on if needed. That use to be Lucas but no idea what has happened to him.

Maybe I didn’t word it well when I said principle of the signing mate.

It’s been said a ton by me, Trix, @rossdapep and many many others than Levy too often in the past has focused too much on ‘getting a deal’ or an ‘opportunity’ signing which tends to be a player of lesser quality than we were targeting and/or a player not suited to the managers needs.

Putting it simply if Conte is happy with it and approved the signing then no problem whatsoever, if it’s another ‘club signing’ and he won’t be used like spence wasn’t then it’s yet again a waste of time and money.

By all accounts conte seems happy with this one and as a player I really like and am excited by him and think he’ll add much needed quality depth to our AM so I’m all for it.

Too often we’ve bought players without a proper plan but Conte said he wanted more players who can beat a man 1v1 so Danjuma very much ticks that box ?

I’m pleased we went for Danjuma not Zaniolo.

Zaniolo has Dele vibes - outstanding young player who’d lost his way and whose manager was not quite sure where to play him.

Ok fair enough. I thought there seemed to be a bit of disappointment around him coming in that’s all. Hopefully people don’t turn on him after 20 minutes like they did with kulusevski and give him a chance.

Ignoring the potential internal politics of the move - think this is one of the best transfers we've pulled off in ages. Loan with an option to buy is all upside for a 25 year old player who has looked very comfortable in the Champions League and in La Liga. These are the kinds of players I feel like Liverpool and City have had 4 of coming off the bench the past 5 years, let's take high upside, peak age, low risk attacking players like this all day long.
