Haven't you missed out Hazard in the PFA player nominations? BBC says he's in both that and the young player list.

All about right apart from Hazard being in the PFA player list (Michu and Cazorla have done a lot more than he has) and Wilshere in the Young player list (as you say he's barely played a handfull of games).

Hazard has had a solid first season but not worthy to be on the main list, the same goes for Cazorla iMO.

Welbeck has done a good job for his team but only has one league goal to show for it, he plays for Man Utd so he must be worthy.

If he can return and play a couple of blinders before the voting, he should be able to win at least one, if not both.

Very left field here, and I'm not even sure myself if he would qualify for player of the year nomination, but every game I have seen Villa play the keeper Guzan makes a ton of saves.

I don't know if I'm thinking this quite right but the way it looks to me, if Bale or Hazard win the general best player, surely they must win the young player by default. Do you need to be a particularly outstanding youngster to be nominated for the general best player award or is it because they're on the cusp of some age threshold? If the latter then fair enough but if it is the former then surely you're better than all the other youngsters already in order to make that list and therefore should win the youngsters one if you're the best overall player. Well that's my logic anyway.

If my logic is correct then Bale wins both for me. RVP and Suarez closely behind.

If my logic isn't correct then Bale wins both for me again. Because he's still better than the rest of the other kids anyway. :p

Agree with tobi - Michu and Baines are missing from the general one, and Shaw and Nastasic from the kids. Wilshere doesn't deserve it, he's a quality player but not played nearly enough games. Welbeck has played well as a team player but not outshone individually. Mata has been better for Chelsea than Hazard and I may be going out on a limb here but Oscar has impressed me more than Hazard this season too, I'd have him over Hazard in the youngsters list.

As much as Bale has done for us, and that has been amazing, I would still go for Suarez. I think he has been consistent all season, whereas Bale had his untouchable spell. Van persie has won the league for united before going into a dry patch. Hazard should not be on either list if I am honest, I am very underwhelmed by his contribution.carrick has been excellent for united without doing anything spectacular and mata had a brilliant first half of the season and is without a doubt the Chelsea player of the season.

So my vote would be

1. Suarez
2. Bale
3. Van Persie

I think that Bale will get it based on the media reviews however.

Harsh that michu does not get a mention in my opinion, think he has been simply amazing at Swansea.

Re the young player, what a sorry state of affairs with Wilshire being on the list for doing naff all and being injured and wellbeck scoring one league goal this season - well done to you sir. Benteke would get young payer of the year for me.

Matt Lawton of the Daily Fail was tweeting earlier about the Football Writer's POTY and was making the usual argument that RVP has to win it as he is the individual most responsible for Man U winning the title.

Personally I hate this argument, not least because its filled with contradictions. Firstly if a player is surrounded by the best team in the country, then surely his task of making an impact is made easier (i.e for a forward he has more chances created for him, or a defender comes under less pressure because his team dominates possession). Secondly, we're no doubt going to hear lots of eulogising of Man United in the coming weeks as they are crowned champions, with no shortage of adulation aimed at the manager, Ferdinand and Vidic, Scholes, maybe even the likes of Cleverley and Hernandez. However, if you're saying that RVP is the man responsible for those players being crowned champions, you're essentially saying that those players are no better than their counterparts at Man City. So which is it Matt Lawton et al? Is RVP the difference between United finishing first and second, or are Man United the best team in the country? Because to my mind the 2 dont easily fit together.

Suarez for me by the way - regardless of the fact he's a prick. Bale dives and RVP is a rapist, so can't see why that should work against Suarez.

Sorry what? Suarez? Seriously?

RVP hat trick to effectively hand Man United the title right now... I reckon he will win if not Bale.

Yeah Suarez

First half of the season him and RVP tore up the league, only difference was RVP was in a much better team. Bale was quiet until Xmas.

Second half of the season Bale has been the best player by some distance, but Suarez has continued to carry Liverpool and, until last night, RVP had gone off the boil.

Bale will win the PFA POTY (judging by the betting), while RVP will win the Writers' POTY, but for me Suarez has been the best individual performer over the whole season fro August until now (though he probably won't play again this season).

Was Bale quiet before Christmas? He still scored six goals and got four assists in that time which is quite a good return, especially adapting to a new manager and slightly different position.

RVP has been pretty consistant as well. He had that spell recently where he went seven games without a goal, but still managed three assists during that spell. Suarez also had two five game spells where he didn't score.

I think it will probably go to Bale as he's been unstoppable at times, and Suarez has that reputation going against him, but I'm also tempted to put a few poubds on RVP if he's 10/1 at the moment.
