Petrified when teams attack us

Anyone know why we haven't even nearly signed any player that can tackle?

Don't get me wrong, I am loving the signings of Modric, Dos Santos, Bentley etc, however, why haven't we shown any interest in our back four other than Corluka or even a defensive midfielder?

I am worried, didn't we concede morte goals that all but 3 teams last season in all 4 divisions.

You needn't worry matt, take a look around the forum and you will find that:

The Riverside is a tough place to go and a lot of top teams will drop points there. We had 62% possession. We pass the ball more than our opponents. Jenas is in the England squad. King will be back this season, fighting fit. These days you don't need an 'enforcer' type player.

Now there you go, no need to be petrified anymore kiddo so rest easy.

I totally share your petrification whenever the opposition runs towards Gomes. The only positive is that it's Gomes and not Robbo. There is no one in the midfield who can tackle so it really doesn't matter how much possession we have, we are still too easy to beat, especially on the counter. On Saturday we had 62% possession and got beat which kinda proves the point. With no grit or tackling ability in the midfield we'll need to have 100% possession to relieve the loose bowel symptoms. Unfortunately this isn't possible due to the change of kicking off team at half time! If we have to watch this kind of defensive void all season then either the club needs to put growth hormones in Modric's food or install continence pants dispensers at the Lane.

Am I correct in thinking that last year Steeeeeed was our top tackler? It really is something that needs addressing. We need a big tough ****. Couldn't someone make the HUDD angry?

Maybe we could get someone to flirt with Hudd's page-3 lass à-la-Dodgeball and then he'd get angry!

Hudd is not the answer, he's not aggressive enough and I don't think he ever will be. Whoever it is doesn't have to be a monster anyway, Roy Keane was hardly a giant.

dont mean to be negative but i think our league campaigne could start as bad as last year unless we sign a DM and another 1 maybe 2 CB. Personally we should have kept kaboul and moulded him into a DM he is quick and loves a tackle.

I know its a big IF, but if King ever gets fit, couldn't he play DM. If memory serves me right, he did it for England once and was pretty good. The downside would mean that Dawson would be permanent CB!!

Cheers

He would be good in that role, but he's too good a defender to play there and I've always thought it's an even more physically demanding role in midfield which wouldn't help him.
