I guess Conte really wants 3 wingbacks for each side, if Reguilon goes then Pervis would give us 6 total.

No idea on this apart from we've liked Estupinan for quite some time now so it wouldn't surprise me. No idea why we need 3 x WBs on each side though ??‍♂️

We just wouldn’t have enough room in our CL squad to add another foreign player + whoever comes in out for Zaniolo/Paqueta
I am guessing some players will just get left out the champions league squad not the end of the world as league is the priority

It’s not good for squad morale. All players want to play in the champions league. I’m sure whoever is left out would be pissed off if all their mates are preparing for trips away while they get left at home.

Conte had 5-6 wing backs in each of his seasons at Inter.

I can fully understand the justification in having 5 possibly 6 wing backs as it gives us both balance and depth in the event of injuries, suspensions and loss of form.

People will argue we only need 2 RWB and 2 LWB’s but one injury to either and we’re down to 1 player for an unsustainable amount of time.

Look at who we’ve currently got:

Spence - natural RWB
Doherty - decent going forward but both slow and poor defensively
Emerson - solid defensively, a lot of work required to improve his offensive game

Sessegnon - Wide left forward converted into a LWB. Lots of promise but also injury prone
Perisic - Wide forward converted into a WB. He’s also 33 and despite being a machine he can’t play every game or cover say Sess if he picks up a likely injury
Estupinan - we were linked with him when he was at Watford. He’s very quick and attack minded

I wouldn’t say we got 1 never mind 2-4 fully fledged attacking wing backs. Spence has potential to nail down the RWB spot.

Not writing this off but keep in mind the source who said this also said lo celso was a done deal in early June, he’s not reliable at all.

It would certainly seem odd even more so as it looks like we're banking on 5 CBs to cover 3 spots.

You get rid of Tanguy by bringing this guy in and then you sell this guy for 20m - hey presto you get 20m (or sell Sess). No way are we going to get a hard cash for Tanguy - big waste of space

Hate to be the guy asking this question, but is this guy sneaky HG due to his time at Watford?
Uh, I’m actually not sure… I remember this came up the first time we were linked. He was certainly registered at Watford for 3 years before turning 21, but he was on loan in Spain for pretty much all of it. I confess my understanding of the HG rules is vague, but if all it requires is being owned by an English club then he should qualify.

Is it possible that with 5 subs this year that we could easily use 4 wing backs in every game? We'd need extra cover if that scenario was likely.

It’s an odd one in that he isn’t a guaranteed started for Villarreal and only has 2 assists in 2 years

If Conte wants him…
