Yes, he is just a name for time being.

This player thread is 81 pages long now. I didn't get worked up to get involved here till now for these reasons :

As much as a name he is, it is a well known fact who watches Serie A consistently that his best was in early 2018. Since then, for some reason or other he hasn't performed consistently. Ofcourse Poch can change that.

Assuming Dybala is attainable, we will have to sped 70 to 80m in this crazy market. And to do that, we will have to sell Eriksen.
Is Selling Eriksen & buying Dybala who's been off for 1.5 season sound enough ? If Eriksen is willing to stay & sign a new contract, IMO, thats the best deal we could do this summer. Eriksen when fit is 7/10 to 9/10 player. I can't say the same for Dybala.

For me, if we have 80m to spend on one player, there are so many options in the market.

If the window ended with Eriksen signing a new deal , Toby staying, not getting Dybala but only Lo Celso, Ndombele, Sess we would have had a brilliant TW.

Also , as Poch indicated, if we didnt sign another forward, Parrott would get his opportunity. He has been arguably the best player of preseason till now. So, why not ?

I don’t understand the desire to retain Eriksen or Toby. Both wanted to leave us the former for Madrid. He openly came out and admitted this. Why would we want players that aren’t committed to the club. I hope we offer him to Juventus and bring in dybala. If not offer him elsewhere. He has run his contract down the same as Toby has they don’t care about the club they are not 100% invested anymore. We need players that want to play for us not players that settle for it because they have nowhere else to go!

@Phand99 dishing out negative ratings but not getting involved in the conversation is a little weird... it’s been rumoured that juventus wanted to swap dybala for Lukaku. When Lukakus situation is clear we have an idea of what the actual situation is don’t really see the need for your WTF rating but on review of your profile it appears to be that’s all you’d do.

I don’t think Toby has ever indicated he wanted to leave. Toby has been pretty clear for the last 2 years that he intends to see out his contract and leave on a free.

I appreciate the sentiment here, and I think it's a reason why we shouldn't be too upset when both Toby and Eriksen leave, but I think expecting anyone to be 100% committed is unrealistic. Toby showed last season that he is professional enough to keep his performance level up even when his future may be elsewhere. For all the comments on Eriksen's dip in form, I think he played fine last season.

At the end of the day, Poch has shown just as much posturing to the media about leaving as those two (end of 18 season, mentioning Real a few times, said he'd have left if we won the cl) and we still love him.

This idea of commitment was nice when we were a relatively young up and coming team a few years ago but I think now we can move on to just ask for professionalism and good performances

You think every player we have came to us because they only wanted to play for us and the lack of the likes of Real Madrid when they came to us had no effect at all? Do you think that Hugo Lloris would have told Real Madrid to sod off because I am holding out for Spurs at the time? I respectfully disagree, the real world don't work that way. Maybe we'll have a player who looked at alternatives and only saw one which didn't come off and is now settled in his career and fully committed.

Maybe it isn't easy to get adequate replacements and the focus will be on replacing them in the next windows.
With the acquisition of NDombele and the proposed arrival of Lo Celso we have sorted out the weakest area of our team.
I dont think we can fix everything in one window and we dont too much change at once? All conjecture on my part?

After this story broke out on Wednesday night or whenever it was, if something was really on you would’ve expected a bit more solid info to have come out buy now. Whether that be from the media or ITKs

Spot on, it doesn't even seem fathomable right now considering the trouble we're having with two long term targets.

Two long term targets that shouldn’t be a complicated transfer at all.
Not if you take into all the information that has been shared about them. Yet there hasn't been any movement on them now for how long?

Stories like Dybala and Bale are pipe dreams.

The squad coped with debilitating injuries at key times.. Imo our squad is decent we just need more luck with injuries

Our squad is most definitely decent, but we shouldn’t be relying on luck to close the gap to the teams in front or even maintain our position in the top four.

I’d be very, very surprised if this happens. Eriksen on a new contract and Lo Celso in seems more likely (though not guaranteed) and an excellent outcome. Doesn’t stop me getting excited by this link, but I don’t expect anything from it

Pretty much feel the same as you. Something has to give with Eriksen this summer, sold or new contract. Dybala a top player apparently (not seen enough of him myself to judge) but would happily accept a player of his stature if Eriksen leaves.

However, until the window shuts any number of deals could happen (obviously !) but i wouldn't rule out something from left field, even more surprising than Dybala signing, purely because there seems to be a lot of big clubs with new managers and a lot of big players who's futures are far from certain at those clubs.

But what a signing! Honestly, people were jizzing themselves when he signed (and rightly so), rivals acknowledged that we had stepped up another level with this signing. Suddenly the name Dybala gets put out there (and I think most people didn't know anything about htis fella, but act like they did), and people are getting petulant and behaving like spoilt children. We have had an incredible TW so far and it's not over.

We’ve made a great signing, to me that is nowhere near an incredible window, sorry.

Spurs fans have been here and seen it/heard it before.

Some people just enjoy thinking good things and can brush it off if it doesn’t come off.

Others have bought in too many times with the happy bit and dwell/rage when it doesn’t. Lots of the latter now prefer to protect themselves by waiting and will worry slightly in the meantime.

All perfectly understandable, there are no need for divisive posts imho. Not that this was massively compared to others, but right place right time...

Also think most people, even those like myself who basically only watch spurs, would have at least heard of Dybala!! He scored the winner against us so recently, give people some credit at least!

Levy is just setting up players (some he will lose) and waiting for Eriksen and I think he must have given Eriksen some kind of ultimatum time wise. Its all going to happen soon I think. Eriksen stays Lo Celso probably get that done Dybala is available is still possible.Eriksen is the key to all so Im sure Levy isn't just going to wait. There has to be a time limit and I would say it ends shortly

I love Eriksen, but hes 27 and if he wants to try something new then nows the time. Dybala, Lo celso and ndombele would be more than enough to replace his stature.

I know we haven't had any strong itk links to dybala but I am really hoping things change next week and we get linked heavily..

I think I’d rather have Eriksen, Lo Celso next season than Lo Celso, Dybala and sell Eriksen.

Eriksen is a known proven quantity in this league. Dybala and Lo celso could theoretically both flop and we’d then be screwed.

That said, signing Dybala would be so exciting too, I’d be happy either way!

For some reason beyond myself and clearly you agree that to many people think it’s amazing he’s staying... He won’t sign [Eriksen] ! I’d respect Eriksen if he signed and said he’d like to be sold... The whole running your contract down eating into the game, says to me players aren’t worth the money personally..... The arse gonna sign Pepe we get 12 months more of Eriksen before he leaves for free... ?⚽️??
