This has Isco kind of rumour written all over it. Happens every year. Of course we should look for those kind of opportunities when they arise but those deals are extremely hard to get over the line. Van der Vaart probably last time we were able to make such a signing. was worth the wait thou!
Hahaha this thread has just become one giant wank fantasy.
"Imagine if we signed Bale, Dybala, Lo Celso, Sessegnon, AND kept Eriksen AND signed Glenn Hoddle circa 1980 AND the ghost of Bill Nicholson christened the centre circle of New White Hart Lane with his phantom jizz rendering us unbeatable at home for 62 years"
Poch apparently has said previously that dybala is world class, maybe a reason to spend 80mWe will not spend 80m on a player . Hypothetically. If we want to spend 80m on a player, then there are many many many top players available for less than that. I don't see Dybala to be worth that much anyway.
Small piece of info from someone I know at the club but I was told Clarke's loan back was down to Bielsa wanting him back on loan. Sort of a favour, maybe?I keep thinking back to the sudden change in events with Jack Clarke's situation, he seemed to be coming in to be part of the 1st team squad then we had that delay (remember igi's comments at the time), next thing and Clarke's going out on loan.
At the time it felt like the position of this was a bit strange, Poch doesn't typically like to loan players out (think of our stance on Saliba) but could a change like potentially signing a big player like Dybala create a compromise for Poch?
It could be that Poch had a last-minute change of mind or that Clarke got cold-feet and insisted on a loan back. It just felt at the time that we were planning on bringing in another attacker.
I think leaving Llorente out of the squad is more to do with having a spot in the squad left open for a possible signing like this.I keep thinking back to the sudden change in events with Jack Clarke's situation, he seemed to be coming in to be part of the 1st team squad then we had that delay (remember igi's comments at the time), next thing and Clarke's going out on loan.

NiceHertYid:
Word on the street is Juve need to sell, that he is available, but that ultimately it’s up to the player whether he wants to leave. And I’d imagine he will have more than one offer.
What a signing it would be though.
I don't think this will happen. We are definitely a backward step in comparison to Juve who have a rich pedigree. We would need to pay him a sizeable wage, which is doable, however he would probably demand a release clause or a shorter 3 year contract to guarantee the step back up to one of the continental giants. Our standing isn't as high as we think it is!
Secondly, once a fee is agreed his agent will be contacting bigger clubs such as Real, Bayern have money and can afford him. And dare I say that Liverpool do have money for the right player; Arsenal will have big money to spend if they can get rid of PEA who is unhappy and wants to go to china. Even they despite being Europa are still a bigger draw than us; they have to risk everything to get into the CL next season otherwise their spending will seriously be cut.
I don't think our stock is as high as we think it is; yes we have the best stadium in Europe and great facilities, but word amongst others is that we are still a third tier team; More like a Dortmund or Arsenal, who still have a bigger reputation than us. teams like pool, athletics, Bayern and inter are 2nd, whilst Barca, United and Real are top tier.
For this signing to come off we would need to agree terms with him which would be difficult his agent would need to be focused on us (bigger agents fee) to make sure that we have a clear run for him.
