The only way to placate not going for Coutinho on a loan is to get this guy. My bin dipper brother is still astonished that the Scum, Man U and ourselves never went for Coutinho

I mean this is a signing you would think we have all the potential in the world to complete it -- but just dont.

Exactly! Other clubs seem to pull on their connections (managers/DoF) to get players in you would not expect. Look at Gerrard at Villa getting Coutinho in. The guys agent wouldn’t have even taken a call from Villa has he not been there.

Ok we were in a strong position last time off the back of the Champions League final but, in someways with the setup and personnel we have now it should be even easier to get a player like this (given his situation) in.

Don't do this to yourselves again, lads
This, ? this. Most of our windows, by the end of them, have been mediocre but the reaction of some on here is that they were disasterous because they ended up believing we were signing players like Dybala or bringing in an unrealistic amount of players so when it doesn't happen they are hugely disappointed because they have convinced themselves that "lessons have been learned" etc

On this link it seems like something has thrown a spanner in works here with his new contract however he still played yesterday so can't be that serious an issue as it didn't lead to a falling out between club and player. He obviously likes it at Juve / in Italy given how long he's been there and his willingness to sign a new contract. Most realistic outcome here is that he still signs his new deal.

I get that it's fun thinking wouldn't Kane, son and Dybala be a fun front 3 to watch and of course we all have those little daydreams about what our starting 11 will be after the window closes but just don't go pinning hopes on it as history has shown you will be disappointed / angry when window closes.

You know we’ve information that suggests that’s why we’re Vlahovic’s favoured destination - because he admires Conte.

I do love whenever someone comes into a thread just to say "don't get your hopes up"/"it isn't happening". If you believe it isn't going to happen, why do you venture into such threads? I don't think it'll happen, but it's not impossible. There's no harm in discussing the possibility, no matter how slim. By all accounts, he is into his last 6 months, his image rights thing is sorted. If there was a opportune time to get him, it'll be now.

You would like people to not come in to these threads and not say "don't get your hopes up"/"it isn't happening"

Good luck with that

May i suggest you don't get your hopes up, it isn't happening :cautious:

Don't see him as a Conte signing. He doesn't appear to be one to run around a lot or work that particularly hard. Has a wonderful left foot though

You're bang on this is a small chance but for me I've seen enough windows here to know that there are some on here who will have themselves convinced we are signing him and then some of these will be the ones moaning and whining in the last few days of the window that we didn't sign him or vlahovic or coutinho etc. And they'll make the daily transfer thread an absolute moan fest which will spill over into other threads they go into it.
It happens every window but if lessons have been learned by the club maybe some of the posters on here have learned them too

That’s a big if in response to your last point. If the club are able to get Conte some signings in Jan and some in the summer of decent quality I think it is fair to say we have changed and are heading in a new positive direction. The issue is historic, historically we have more often then not not done that, the fans are a reflection of the club, always expecting the worst.

We have a chance with the stadium being finish, Covid mostly over and a truly elite manager to change the narrative but without significant investment that goes nowhere. If the Jan window falls flat on its face and people start moaning that will just be a inevitable response to a familiar pattern.
