Pat van den Hauwe - Any memories?

My "alter ego" (or whatever) changed recently to Pat van den Hauwe and I just can't recall almost anything about him!

I just remember that he was a defender (don't even remember if he was left, right or central defender) and played for us in the early 1990's (?). Back in those days I could see VERY few Spurs games, so it's perhaps not so surprising that I have forgotten him...

BUT if somebody remembers something (like what kind of player he was, some particular incidents etc.) I would be very happy to hear!!

Cheers!

He was a full back who was perenially injured if I recall. He also had a decent bint who made him more famous than he should have been - name escapes me though.

I remember three things about PVDH. He had a hot wife (Mandy Smith), bad hair and ended up playing for Millwall.

Was a key member of 91 cup winning team at the same time as shagging Mandy Smith after she became legal

Yurp, he went off with Mandy Smith!

Probably the most notable thing about him, I think we got him from Everton?

Yeah - Wyman married her pre-legal...PVDH boned her legal. The rest of the old first division (pre prem) probably had their way while they were waiting for Dani Behr.

I remember years ago we were playing Luton and already had one player sent off (Paul Stewart i think). Anyway Van den Hauwe launched a 2 footed tackle that hit the Luton player (could have been Ceri Hughes) so hard that he went up vertically to head height. Pat obviously got sent off but we went on to win with 9 men. Whenever people talk about the worst fouls ever that one springs to mind. Also I think we signed him from Everton where he played in their title winning team.

Heard the same from my brother who use to steward at Brentford games. He said that if he had to choose to save the life of either Robbie Savage or Pat van den Hauwe he would save Savage.

I saw an early game when he was playing and it was against arsenal and one of there players was chasing the ball along the touchline (even though it was going out) and Pat was in front of the guy and as the ball went of the pitch he stopped raised his elbow and leant into the Arsenal player and took him out, I know it was a gooner but i still remember it was one of the worst things i ever saw.

Signed for the 1989/90 season, he gets top billing at the start of the season video, still the best Spurs compilation going. I miss the old-style pre-Premier League club videos, always so quotable.

"A great goal from Chris Waddle, last year's star performer. But there's a shock in store for the Spurs faithful. Tottenham sell Waddle to the French club Marseille for more than four million pounds. It's the biggest transfer in British history. So there'll be no hook-up between Waddle and England colleague Gary Lineker, Spurs' big summer signing from Barcelona"

"It's gone in off Guy Butters, Paul Williams claims it, and it's 1-0 to Charlton"

"A flick from Whiteside, and from Sharpe… taken on by SHEEDY! That's a wonderful goal to whet the appetite for the season"

Wish I could remember our best bits

OK - is this true?

Someone told me when he was playing for Everton he was banging the wife of some Scouse Gangster. When the gangster found out, he got some heavies to burn off the soles of PVDH's feet, I believe with acid.

PVDH spent a year out of the game recuperating - Everton pretended he had some football related injury.

Anyone else heard that?
