The goals we conceded were nothing to do with going out on the front foot though. One from a set piece and then two as we sought to close the game out. I’m not saying I think we will be anything other than tight in our approach, but it simply isn’t true to say we conceded goals because we were cavalier. We conceded theee goals due to a) poor marking at a set piece b). A defensive error and c) a freak finish after a poor clearance in made up time after a made up foul. The players responsible for this errors aren’t likely to be on the pitch Sunday

It isn't just to do with the goals we conceded, we were playing on the front foot pretty much for the whole match, or at least with less caution. For example West Ham kept getting in in the full back areas and kept overloading our flanks or Jose bringing on Bale who didn't contribute anything defensively, the goals came as a result of being careless defensively. Since then Jose has changed the gameplan by defending with a 6 at the back in a low block hence why we are picking up all these clean sheets.

Have a feeling palace will set up similar to us and counter.
I think this might end up being a draw with the game on Wednesday promising to be something special.

Thing is this season pretty much any team can beat any other so please let’s not all lose our collective shit when we eventually do. There’ll be plenty of twists and turns to come between now and May. Let’s just hope teams start figuring out how to beat the scousers instead of rolling over to get their tummies tickled.
Ourselves included! We never fucking turn up against the bin dippers ... even in CL Finals FFS!!!!!!

We rolled them over at Wembley a couple of years ago.
Can't remember that to be honest. My brother is a dipper (black sheep of the family) and they always seem to get one over us when it really matters. I'm a belfast lad so 99% of footie fans over here are either dippers or united. To be honest, the dippers are my arsenal - all my mates support them!! And I can't fucking stand them. I do remember a game I watched with my brother where we spanked them 4-0 with both Modric and Bale scoring but that's a long time ago now!! How much I will love it, fucking love it Kevin Keegan style, if we take their league title of them!!

COYS!!!!!!!

I reckon the table is lying a bit when it comes to Palace and that they aren’t AS good as the table thus far might suggest. I feel it’s one of those very few matches a season that we “should” win.

I‘m the opposite. I think on their day they can give anyone problems. They’ll have a small amount of fans back in the stadium so will want to do well for them, plus we have the manger of the month curse to deal with. I wouldn’t be surprised if we struggled today.

Wonder if Sky will refer to us as "league leaders" today.

Yeah, appreciate that. From what I see though, they haven’t met any of the really really good teams since 3. Of October (Chelsea, loss) and 7 of their points lately have been won vs. 3 opponents with one man less each. Not once have they kept a clean sheet since the first league round.

As I said, I agree we have tightened up our approach, but there was nothing wrong with the game plan against West Ham. We scored 3 (and could easily have got more) and conceded goals through a combination of bad luck, set pieces and errors from Sanchez and Winks. The goals we conceded were not due to being cavalier. Playing a more aggressive game is an option we should retain in certain circumstances. A performance like the one against West Ham is more likely to get us 3 points than the one against West Brom. Palace isn’t the game for that though anyway, they want to play on the counter

Banana Skin written all over it. Palace have the ability to pull off a shock result on their day. I expect Jose to play cautious and we grab a 2-0 possibly 2-1 win.

It will be interesting to see what jose does. They will sit back as well. Hopefully tanguy is better. Could be some of this.
They might sit back but they just put 5 past West Brom, they think "fuckin' 'ell, check us out".

As I said, it's not JUST to do with the goals we conceded.

Watch the match again please, West Ham were working on overloads down our flanks especially down our right, they were constantly threatening our box and not defending from the front properly once Bale was on the pitch, we were on the front foot all match which allowed West Ham to get back into the game, the point is that 'bad luck' doesn't happen if we played with more caution.

Exactly - in some games lets go two or three nil up by being more on the front foot and then park the bus. Not start by parking the bus. The problem against West Ham was that at 3-0 we stopped playing as a team and did not defend properly. I think we needed the last 6 games for the players to learn properly how to shut teams out (and for Jose to realise that players like Winks and Sanchez are not ideal for defending in a low block), and now they know that we can choose when to park up and when to open up.

Think it's pretty simple, if we can find a mistake early then we could rip them apart. If they defend well in the early stages then we're in for a slog of a match.

Wouldn't be surprised if he starts Lucas with Bergwign wrapped up with Liverpool in mind
